  1. Some cameras may exhibit a phenomenon in which the LCD monitor does not display, the shutter does not release, and the BUSY indication remains lit in the viewfinder.
  2. The message, "Err 99 Shooting is not possible. Turn the power switch to<OFF> and <ON> again or re-install the battery", appears on the camera's LCD monitor, and after the above operation is carried out,the LCD monitor displays in a language that is different from the actual language setting.

    I am having the same problem with my Rebel XS. You cannot update the firmware because the camera is sitting there saying it is busy and I have not been able to find a way to do a hard reset the camera to clear this condition.

Contunues shooting
You put the camera into one of the Continuous modes by holding the Release Mode button (to the right of the LCD control panel on the top of the camera, marked with a set of overlapping rectangles) and turning the command dial on the back. The two choices are Continuous Low and Continous High (marked with the overlapping rectangles and the letter "L" or "H"). Frame and shoot as normal.

In continous mode the camera will take pictures as long as your finger remains on the shutter release button or until the buffer fills up. In Continous High the camera will take as many as 4.5 pictures a second. Custom Setting #d6 controls how fast Continous Low shoots.

Bear in mind that the speeds mentioned are only maximums. If your shutter speed is set to half a second, you're obviously not going to take four pictures in one second.

Continous formatt popping up on my camera
Download any pictures to your computer using a card reader if necessary. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. Then, making sure the slide switch on the side of the card is in the unlocked position, insert the card and this time, find "format" in the menu and follow the on-screen instructions.

Camera has no display, appears to be locked up, shows busy through veiw finder, otherwise focus ok but no picture taken. Battery and SD card ok.

Canon 40D LCD Wont come on buSY flashes in view finder
Okay, this is simple. Your camera can take several pictures at one time in a burst. However when you release the shutter button your processor takes a second to actually SAVE the pictures to the card in the camera. One thing than has helped me in my wedding photography business is to buy the fastest speed cards I can find. It significantly reduced my "busy" time.
