360 video problem on HDTV

I just bought an xbox 360 and connected to my RCA HD-ready TV using the component video cable set to HDTV. The TV is 1280 x 1080i so I went into the display properties on the xbox dahsboard and set it to 1080i but then then the picture goes out. So I tried 720p and that didn't work either. The only resolution setting that works is 480p which I believe is the same as a standard definition TV. Am I doing something wrong? Do I have a lousy TV or is there something wrong with the xbox?

The TV is a 52" CRT rear-projection model #D52130, about six years old. I'll try swapping TVs and xboxs and see what happens as you suggested. The instruction manual is here: http://157.254.235.130/public/15719660.p.... Page 63 gives the rest of the specs for the TV. Thanks for your help on this.

I need a little bit more info on the TV its an RCA what?,

In the mean time what you could try is finding someone with a HD tv and trying it out at there house so that you can single out if it is your system or the TV. This will help alot you can also try someone else's xbox 360 at your house on your tv to see if it is your AV cable / xbox360.

How should I hook up my xbox to the back of the television using the red, white, and yellow wires? It is hooked up but I am not getting any audio. Thank you.

First make sure your video cable is set to TV not HDTV

Then plug the 3 RCA cables into the color coded slots on the TV. Make sure you aren't using the red cable from the component RGB but are using the red cable for sound (next to the white one).

Then, if you still have no picture, start the console using the controllers Xbox button and hold "Y" and "RT" until the console restarts. this will reset the video settings on the 360 to default.

Follow this guide if you get confused:
http://support.xbox.com/en-us/pages/xbox-360/how-to/audio-video-devices/connect-xbox-360-console-tv.aspx

and for the video reset about halfway down the page:

I was having trouble with my component AV cable. I went to purchase a new cable, HDAV component cable and connected the xbox. I had an image for a short time and now do not. Please help!

your HD settings may be too high, go to "display settings and change them, if your not on an HD tv, change the output to "TV" on the AV cord where it connects to your xbox, if you Are on an HD tv make sure the output is set to "HDTV" on the AV cord where it connects to your xbox, there is a little switch on the side that slides left to right

RCA D52130 52 in. Won't Display High Def

Hi!
I doubt you'll look at this 2 years later, or even have the T.V.

I have the same TV and was able to view ps3 and xbox 360 games in 1080i, but it's a little tricky. First, let me say that the ps3 is probably not the best system to try using 1080i in unless you have a 360 to help trick the tv into working.

Xbox 360
You need to first set the video to 1080i. This will make the screen display in a bunch of horizontal lines most of the time, but if you keep toggling it on and off, it eventually works. To avoid having to sit and swap between the two modes, it's easier to first set it to 1080i and confirm the setting, then go back into the settings, select 720 (first option above 1080i) and cancel as soon as the video mode changes. 95% of the time this will make it display correctly in 1080i mode. If you turn the tv off and back on, it will sometimes reset to the horizontal lines. If you restart the xbox, it will reset to horizontal lines most of the time. With the ps3, you can set it to 1080i and keep toggling it until it works, but when the game launches it can screw up again, so it's best to have the xbox on and ready with a component switch so you can fix it with the xbox then switch back to the ps3. I think the cable that comes with the tv for HD input (the component plugs don't work, they only support 480, but the vga looking input supports 1080i) - the cable is just poor quality and can barely handle the signal. I've been trying to find a better quality cable with no luck.

Hope this helps other people with this ancient beta HD input canadian tvness.

Try to use a HDMI cable, your component cables may not be usable with your TV.

XBOX 360 Elite RCA video connection problem

On the TV you should have a video, input or mode button. If you press that button while the 360 is on it should pickup the signal. You need to be in video mode instead of cable mode since you are using the red, yellow, white cables. Many TVs have a few video modes so press it wait a few seconds and try again if it does not work. Hope this helps:)

HDTV Problem

there shouldnt be a problem with the cable, if you use the component leads then you will not need to use the s video cable for video incase that is what you are doing, component only uses 5 connectors and the switch should be set at HDTV not tv and the tv set at component Use the following colours into your tv:- Green, Blue, Red and the audio red and white, you do not need the yellow or the s video plugs. Then select the 1080i when in the component setings on your tv and do the same in the dashboard settings
