What if my toshiba requires a password?

Hi! Welcome to www.fixya.com.
If you have an operating system like XP, Vista or window 7. we can reinstall OS of the laptop. If you dont have one you can call your manufacturer to get or purchase one. Here is an instruction on how to install window 7
Insert the recovery disk into the CD/DVD drive.
2 Click "Start" and then click the arrow pointing to the right. Click "Restart" from the fly-out menu to reboot the computer.
3 Press any key, when prompted, to boot from CD during the Windows 7 start-up process.
4 If no prompt appears, press the "F8" key to force the computer to boot from the CD.
5 Make a selection from the "Language" preference list and click "Next" at the bottom right of the screen.
6 Click the "Install Now" option to start the installation.
7 Select the "Custom" installation option.
8 Delete any partitions on the hard drive. Toshiba laptops are shipped with only one partition, the C: drive. To delete a partition, select the partition and then click the "Delete" option.
9 Select the C: drive and click "Next". The Windows 7 operating system will begin the installation process by first formatting the drive, and then copying files to the drive.
10 Select the "Time Zone" preferences, and complete the remaining preference forms. Click "Next." The installation may take a while. Allow the installation to complete. The computer will boot up into Windows once the machine has been fully restored to factory settings.

Having had my sons laptop crash with the message bootmng missing he installed windows vista for a medion laptop on his toshiba C650 laptop but now i have read that we could have it with original software...

if you have the windows vista dvd then put it in, boot from it but when it comes to install step , check for the REPAIR SYSTEM option at the bottom,
select that option and choose -> startup repair.
follow onscreen steps and wait for system reboot.
if everything goes fine it will start but if this doesn't work then you'll be needed to reinstall the whole OS..

I have a Toshiba Qosmio X505 that has two files infected "TCrdMain.exe and "avgnt.exe" Nothing I do removes the problem. I have my recovery CD's, is this my only choice? and if so what...

If it is a bad virus that won't let you do anything on the computer, follow the instructions on this link. If you can install programs on your computer, follow only steps 7 and 8 from the above link.

If you still want to go further with the recovery CD, follow these steps. Power off the laptop. Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, press the power button once to switch on your notebook. When the machine Starts beeping; release the 0 key. When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the system recovery. Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next. Select Recover to out-of-box state. Click Next again. Click Next to Start recovery.

HOW TO REBOOT

This is an open ended question as I am not aware of your problem, however,
Disconnect your power supply and remove the battery.
Refit the battery and plug in the AC adaptor, check the power light and battery light are illuminated.
Keep disconnect any periferals, (USB devices) and ensure the DVD drawer is empty. Press the power button. The POST should now start up flashing a line of led's across the top of the keyboard first followed by the hard drive light.
The BIOS F2 or F12 choice screen will now appear. If it doesn't the laptop hasn't completed POST and can go no further.
Press F12 and select Hard Drive for the boot device, the laptop will then try and boot from the hard drive, just as the boot chioce menu dissapears press F8, this will opem a further menu allowing you to repair your system. This, if selected, will collect data stored on drive E and repair the main system putting the OS back as it was when you first purchased the machine.
If that won't work or there is a corrupt file or serious error, you will require an OS system disk.
Place the System disk in the DVD drive, press power until the system tries to boot and when you get to the boot selection menu, press F12 again but select CD/DVD as the boot drive.
Follow my last instructions again and you will have a fresh/repaired system and a working laptop again.
When all is OK go to www.computers.toshiba-europe.com and let toshiba download and install the latest drivers and BIOS.
Hope that helps.

Change region code of machine qosmio x 500 to play bd

Right-Click Computer, then Left-click Properties\Device Manager. Find your BD player. It might be listed under CD\DVD drives. Double click the BD Device. A properties window will open. Click Region and select the proper one. I believe that the U.S.A. is still Region 1 for BD ROMs, as they are for CD\DVD ROMs. You can only change this a few times and then it won't let you change it again, so don't change it a bunch of times trying to figure out what is the correct one.
