I have a GE Profile single wall oven PK916. One day while baking I hit convection button and heard pop. Now if I keep breaker on ovens convection elements heats up super high and never goes off. COntrol panel seems to function properly as far as setting time, turning off/on regular oven. Or setting convection on/off on screen. But the actual elements just stays on and is non-responsive even to celar/reset.
Repairman came out and said whole controller needs replacement. Could it just be a ceramic fuse or switch that is damaged and just replaced by me?
The convection heater is control according to the temperature of the part n 3014 Thermister
Part Number: AP2025611 made by GE
So this is acting like a temperature sensor and it seem that is giving wrong indication to the control panel and switch off the heater at wrong temperature.
So you should replace the thermister.
You can find this and all a other parts of your oven in this link.
If it blows the fuse as soon as you hit the START button, it's almost certainly a shorted high-voltage capacitor.
If it blows a few seconds after you hit the START button, it's probably the high-voltage transformer. You'll possibly also smell a faint electrical burning smell from the rear vent after you shut if off.
Microwave can be very dangerous so it is best to have it looked by a professional
Would appreciate a solved rating for expert advise.
