Ok listen, all you need to do if your screen says "Device needs a tunup" or whatever, just plug it in to your comp. , download the leapfrog connect app if don't have it already, run the app, and follow directions from the help page in the app if you don't know where to go from there. For gods sake people, its not that hard.

After I tried many other things to fix this I thought I would try something different than a computer with Windows 7. I hooked my Didj to a computer with Windows 10 and it repaired the Hard Drive on it. It now works fine.

Our didj is stuck on "needs a tune up" also! We have had nothing but problems with this game system and we regret buying it!!! My advice to anyone...Don't buy this system!!! Now after all my daughters hard work on this game, we can say good buy to all her points and progress!!! Thanks Leap Frog for the terrible system that should have never been released for purchase to the public!!
On the better side of things my daughter liked playing the games. We just wished it worked better and properly!

Didj needs a tuneup! Bet when I plugged it in to the computer with usb it installed on the computer but the Didj never goes off downloading in progress. Ive tried on two diffrent computers and cant figure...

I bought my 2 for my grandsons for Christmas and both had the same problem. I Googled LeapFrog Connect and downloaded it. After you download it, plug the unit up to your PC with the USB cable that came with it. When you start LF Connect, it will tell you that there is an update for your Didj. Follow the prompts and you should not have any problems.

Didj will turn on but Warning screen is just frozen.

I had the same problem. What you need to do is open the Leapfrog connect and then plug your DIDJ into the computer. You also need to plug it in with the AC adapter as this takes time and the first time I tried the batteries died. So plug it in or put new batteries in it. Now just leave it sit plugged into your computer with the Leapfrog connect program open. It took mine almost 2 hours just sitting on the white Warning screen then if finally connected and updated the software and is now working fine. Hope this helps.

Can not get a game to play

I just got the Sonic game to play again. Unfortunately, I had to reset the Didj--i.e., erase all the contents, including "Jet Pack Heroes" and my son's profile. Basically, I had to reset it to factory settings.

So all the stuff we worked on is lost, but at least he can play Sonic.

I got the instructions here:
http://community.leapfrog.com/blog-entry/Bad-Christmas-Presents/Didj-Needs-Tune/580000606

And here are the instructions:

"Launch LeapFrog Connect
  1. Press the "Ctrl + Shift + R" keys on the keyboard
  2. A window will open that will say "connect the device you would like to reset"
  3. Connect the Didj and turn it on
  4. This will reset the Didj to the factory settings"
It didn't work exactly like this, but that's the command you want to use to reset it when connected to the computer via USB. You'll know when it's resetting--it takes a good 5-10 minutes and very clearly tells you that you're resetting.

Hope this helps!
