I think you mean Hughs when you're referring to your direct Tv remote? And you want that remote to turn on/off your Sylvania Tv, right?
I'd need to know the Hughs model number on the remote to know if it's a four or five digit code requirement. But here's a site that might help. http://www.remotecodelist.com/remotes/
Scroll down to Hughs and that link should take you to the DTV site where they have a wealth of info regarding codes. Find your model number remote control and you should have a list of possible codes to try.

There is a Redi-remote replacement remote available here: https://www.remotes.com/sylvania-p/sylvania-rtsb377w.htm . Walmart and Amazon list this remote as well. This is programmed to work exactly like the original remote.
