what about the Projector Condition leds: POWER, WARNING and LAMP REPLACE? How are they lit? For good measure you should also clean the air filter (the projector might not be getting enough air to cool the lamp)
There may be a burnt capacitor on the circuit board. If you are savy in electronics and soldering you may be abel to replace yourself if you can determine which one it is and find an exact replacement. I don't believe there are too many on the board. Otherwise take to a repair shop and have them check out the capacitors.
The ballast unit has failed, possibly due to overheating as that is an "A4" sized unit and if ceiling mounted gets too warm when the filters are dirty.
is this original lamp or refurbished one or compatible some thing.
how was performance of previous lamp when you pull out it? if it is still working for few minutes, you can confirm projector by reinstalling it.
There could be a problem with the flip down iris protector. If the Sanyo is on and you flip the protector down manually then the projector will go into standby mode. This is obviously to protect the system incase it ever gets flipped down accidently and the system is on. There could be a faulty switcher inside the protector mechanism which is not working properly and the machine thinks that the screen is down when in fact it is open!
Switch off the entire projector at the mains and open and close the screen a few time manually. If you feel comfortable doing so try and force the screen up a little bit past its stopping point when it is supposed to be fully open. Be careful and don't break it. Now keeping it open plug it back in a see if that works and don't touch the protector ever again! If it doesn't try opening and closing a few more times to try and release the triggering button that is inside the projector screen.
