I have recently purchased a used powermatic 66 Table Saw, with a 3 hp single phase motor. Inside the electric switch box there is a small dial gage, that ranges from 18-22, I believe. Can you tell me what this gage is, and where it should be set?
That is the current setting for a motor-starter which is an overcurrent sensor. This is a circuit breaker like device that usually has a heater coil that opens a contact which cuts the power to the relay that powers the motor to prevent overload damage to the motor.
The dial is in AMPS and should be set just slightly higher than the nameplate amp rating for the motor.
That is the flux capacitor... don't F with the flux capacitor... you don't want to mess with the space/time continium.
I also bought a used Powermatic 66 however mine in the 5 hp. The dial in my switch box and mine is set at 22.
