Not a real good idea except under emergency situations, as the lid lock is a safety switch to prevent access to the washer during spin cycles when the drum is operating at high speed and you don't want foreign objects (like hands) coming into contact with a high speed rotating drum or its contents. If you have the unit open enough to cut the wires, you had enough access to replace the switch, which you can get at SearsPartsDirect.com or any Sears Service Center in your area. If you are hell-bent on operating the machine in an unsafe condition, just connect the bare ends of the wires with a wire nut, which will perform the same circuit connection as the closed switch. Tape the connected wires away from any moving parts, don't let any bare wire come in contact with any metal and keep the lid closed during all parts of the wash, rinse and spin cycles.
I would think the lid would unlock once you unplugged the machine. Check your owner's manual for any kind of "emergency reset" procedure. Perhaps the lock mechanism is jammed. Have you tried pressing on the lid or tapping it to see if that frees the lock?
Door unlock failure Excessive force on door lid is preventing lock bolt from retracting. Wash media buildup is preventing lock bolt from retracting. Machine/motor control cannot determine if door lid is in an unlocked state. See TEST #8, page 14
That is why the washer won't start. Replace the lid lock. It is there to stop anyone from putting their hands inside of washer when it ia agitating, by stopping power to the motor.DO NOT try ANY attempts to mmake it work!!!! Injury may result
