SOURCE: how to remove write protect on my usb flash drive

just bought my flash drive and never used it because when I would try to save a file to it, I would get prompt that I need to format it first. When I tried to format my flash drive, it would prompt that the disk is write protected. How am I supposed to remove the write protected? Why is it write protected when there is nothing on my flash drive?

There should be a very small slide switch along the edge of the card. Sliding this one way will lock (write protect) or unlock the card.

On USB stick, there is a "Lock/Unlock" slide bar on the opposite end of USB port. It uses the symbols of a "lock" and an "open hasp lock" to show that the device is "locked" (write-protected) or "unlocked" or not write-protected. remove the lock

There is a software on internet, it is FREE of charge, it is called unlocker, it's a simple installation that lets you delete, rename, move any file/folder, just right-click the desired file/folder, go to"Unlocker" the image is a wand, and select the option you want.. works for me. good luck. hope this helps
