Do you mean the timer or control dial sticks. If so then it may be the timer mechanism itself.

Make sure that when you are skipping a turn on the timer that the machine is actually performing that particular task of the cycle. For example if the timer gets stuck before the drain cycle, and you manually skip forward to it, that it actually drains the water out.

If so then it is most likely a worn timer mechanism which sticks.

Testimonial: "interesting theory. Just know it doesn't work, have had problems with everything we bought from Sears, and WON'T DO THAT AGAIN. Thanks for your help"

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II washing machine, model number: LSQ9110PW3 that stopped working properly two days ago. At first it seemed to not be able to go into the spin cycle. However, I just...

You have one of the best washers ever made... It is called a "Direct Drive" by us technicians. You probably need this part, but NEVER get rid of this machine as NOTHING out there is this good- not for anyprice. https://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Whirlpool-Washing-Machine-Motor-Coupling/285753A/1195967?modelNumber=LSQ9110PW3&ss=a11b5d654521&mr=1

Washer sticks on wash cycle; runs continuosly on spin cycle

That sounds like you have one of them fancy water saving outfits with a diverter valve that dumps the pump water continuosly over the clothes. Weirdest washer I ever saw. Could be the solenoid that opens the drain pump has failed. Don't know too much about em but I do have the service manual. Post your model number for a more precise answer. Kenmore model # 110.244222300, Won't automatically complete wash

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.#######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Following is a Whirlpool / Kenmore service manual for top load, direct drive washers.

Initial thoughts are that the Timer is worn / broken.

Here is a description of how to gain access to the console on these washers where you may be able to test the timer. (See the Whirlpool service manual for testing)

My dishwasher is sticks in between washing cycles

These mechanical timer machines have to follow a series of logical steps to complete the program - ie, empty. fill to level 1. wash. heat to temp. etc etc
My guess is the machine is not heating, as you say it works for part of the program - or possibly it is not emptying correctly? check water heating element and drain pump.
Program 4 eco is a separate program from 3, using low temperature washing - the machine does stop between 3 and 4 normally and doesnt carry on through.
