I hope this helps. The images and directions for setting the tension for different stitches starts on page 20 (page 22 of the PDF). If you can, I'd suggest printing at least the tension information pages. If you'd like to get a printed copy, some online sewing machine part stores have the manual. One source is https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/singer-14u344b-serger-parts.aspx?sort.ss_cat_sort=desc&index=67 . The link to purchase the manual is https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/singer-14u344b-instruction-manual.aspx . Alternatively, you could get the manual printed at any print shop (like Kinkos).
Serger needles are different from regular sewing machine needles, but like sewing machine needles, they are generic. That means that if you buy a serger needle, it should fit most sergers from any manufacturer.
My favorite manufacturer is Organ; they've been in business for a long time and manufacture for commercial and home machines and sergers and they're quite inexpensive.
try changing the needle rethread the top thread--
Correct needle insertion is mandatory for proper use of your sewing machine.
Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the needle clamp screw to remove the old needle.
Place the new needle in the needle clamp with the flat side of the needle facing the back, (round needle, the groove in the needle should face away from the shaft).
Push the needle all the way up as far as it will go. Then tighten the needle clamp screw. also check the bobbin to make sure that it's threaded correctly & inserted correctly into the bobbin case
First put a spool (thread catch to the bottom of the pin) on the spool pin and put the appropriate size cap on top. Then snap the thread into the guide on the top near the arrows. Draw the thread following the arrows, down and then up before coming down again to the needle. Then either use the threader or draw the thread through the needle so that the thread is coming down the groove of the needle.
It will show several options, one being Buying hard copy, but look for free download for English manual. Page 8 (section 3) starts the threading tutorial.
