When burning dvds LG external burner states burn failed

Try using a different burning software. I recommend IMGBurn: The Official ImgBurn Website
Also try using a different make of blank media (CD/DVD).
If it still fails then your hardware may be faulty, try loading latest LG drivers for it.

While trying to burn a cd i get error message 4450 ?

Try testing the CD first. There are reports that this error will occur but still produce a functional CD. Next try reducing the write speed, this will fix the problem in some cases. Next try burning with CD with a different program like Nero. iTunes appears to be a problematic application for this error. It is possible that the CD burner is near the end of it's life.

I keep having failed burn sessions it says "Power Calibration error" what and how can I fix that

Their could be several possible reasons and solutions for the above error, basically what is happening is for some reason the CD/DVD burning software is unable to determine the Optimum Power Calibration rate (a small pre-burn test to determine optimal laser power for writing), resulting a disk burn failure. There is no easy way to pinpoint the exact reason, so try all the possible fixes from top to bottom (easy to hard) and see what works:
Try using different brands of quality blank media, most common reason for such error's is cheap blank media.
Try burning at lower speeds (Highly effective).
If this fails try a different burning software

Nec dvd+-rw nd-6650a stop burning dvds

It's time to replace the defective (and probably warranty-expired) unit.

If your computer is a notebook, not a desktop, it's best to take the computer to a qualified technician, to disassemble your computer, and replace the drive.

Generic errors only burns 75% of file ; happens on bith internal & external DVD RW

Very possible you got a bunk batch of blank media. But could also be the burning program itself (IE NERO) Try to reinstall what ever program you are using

I keep getting cancelled CD burns off of iTunes and Windows Media

I had that error befor I was burning with Memorex's 52x CD-R... when I switched to a Maxell's CD-R, the error was gone! And I left the burn speed at 'maximum'. It did it in about 4minutes. Good luck!

DVD-RW Name Changes When Blank DVD Inserted

p3, Did you try burning the DVD and it failed? You should try upgrading the firmware on DVD drive. http://www.samsung.com/support/productsupport/download/Model_Select.aspx?type=ODD+Products&typecode=300400&subtype=DVD+Writer&subtypecode=300405&model=TS-H552U&filetype=FM&language= Or, your just interested why Windows is calling your expensive DVD burner a measley CD Drive? Your Burner is an all-in-one.(I think) It plays(and burns) cd's and dvd's. Whatever program you use to burn has not informed Windows of its true intentions yet...Which is to burn a dvd or a cd. It doesn't know what you are burning until something tells it to. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
