Will comcast support Actiontec - ADSL Modem with 802.11g Wireless Router and 4-Port Ethernet Switch

Turn DSL-router off.
Turn Actiontec off.
Turn computer off.

Connect:

* telephone-port in wall <--- 4-pin telephone wire --> DSL router

* Ethernet port on DSL-router <-- Ethernet cable --> WAN port on router

* One of the LAN ports on router <-- Ethernet cable --> network-port on your computer.

Turn DSL-router on, and wait for it to fully load, i.e., pattern of lamps becomes repeatable.

Turn Actiontec on, and wait for it to fully load, i.e., pattern of lamps becomes repeatable.

Turn computer on, and boot it.
Click Start
Click Run
Type CMD
Press Enter
Type IPCONFIG
Press Enter
Look for output like: Default Gateway....192.168.123.456
Start Internet Explorer
Type http://192.168.123.456 (or whatever numbers you saw)
Login to your router
Configure the wireless adapter inside the router
(enter an SSID, choose 'WPA' encryption, enter a password)
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from your computer
Click "View Available Wireless Networks",
and select the SSID that you provided.
Enter the password that you provided.

No. The uplink for the Actiontec is the DSL port. You would be better off purchasing a router from a retailer instead of a gateway modem/router combo like the Actiontec

You sure can. Start w/ the Comcast modem as long as it is NOT a USB type and hooks using a CAT-5 cable (regular network cable). Hook the comcast modem to the WAN port of the wireless router. On the back of the wireless router use the normal 1-4 extra LAN ports to hook other computers or the SD208 switch to it and other computers from there.

Word of advise if using Wireless Router, be sure to read manual and set a KEY for your network to secure it from unwanted outside use.

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the port on the Comcast modem to the WAN port on the Berklin (Belkin????) router.
Use another Ethernet cable to connect one of the LAN ports on the router to the Ethernet port on your computer.
Start Internet Explorer on your computer.
Connect to the web-interface inside the router.
Run the "network setup wizard".
Run the "wireless setup wizard".

First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.

There are ADSL wireless routers however.
I guess your purpose is to make your ADSL modem available wirelessly, you can connect the
modem via lan line to the wireless and use that as a router.

your SPA2102-R seems to have one ethernet connection and one internet connection.
your WRT54G-TM seems to have one internet connection and 4 ethernet connections.

What you are trying to achive is; plug a ethernet cable into the ethernet connection on your SPA2102-R then plug the other end into the internet port of the WRT54G-TM

hope this helps, I have assumed that you intend to use a DSL broadband supplier not ADSL.

if you are changing service from DSL to ADSL then your WRT54G-TM needs to be first in line configured and working. then plug the internet port from the SPA2102-R into any of the WRT54G-TM ethernet ports.

You have a lot of different things going on here.
First, your provider is AT&T so you have ADSL service.
Comcast supplies their service over cable.
AT&T should have provided you with an ADSL modem that is connected to a phone wire. Normally another cable (ethernet, patch, RJ45, Cat5) connects the modem to the network card in your computer.
I don't know what model of router you have but there are 2 possiblities as to type. It can be a regular wireless router or it can actually be a cable modem with a built-in router.
If this is a normal router it will have a port labelled either Internet or Wan (normally, some companies do strange things), you should connect the cable from the ADSL modem to this port.
If it does not have a Internet or Wan port but has a round screw type cable connection, you have no way to connect this to the DSL modem and it will not work for you unless you switch to a cable provider. Even the it may not work because some providers check the MAC address of the unit and will not issue it an IP address unless it matches the one in their files.

Ok, lets say this is a normal wireless router. You have the phone line going to the ADSL modem and then a Cat5 cable going to the Wan port of the router, you are not out of the woods yet because most desktops do not come with wireless hardware. You need to get a Wireless PCI card and install it or if you prefer they also come in USB.

Done? Probably not. If this was a used router it was probably configured at one time and you will not be able to connect to it unless you happen to know the security key. This means you will have to reset the router back to factory default and configure it from scratch. Of course you could luck out and security was never configured for this router but you should still configure it unless you want everybody within range to be able to connect to your router and possibly your computer.

If after this long winded explaination you still want to do this, get back to me with the specific make and model of the router and what operating system you are using and we can go from there.

You have to connect to the router with ethernet to get onto the configuration page. what i think what you have to do is to get a lan card and install it.
