Mitsubishi VS-50111 50" Rear Projection Television Logo
Anonymous Posted on Oct 22, 2009

I own a Mitsubishi HD 1080 series HD TV; MODEL#VS-50111. Recently the TV shut itself off after a few minutes of operation. I unplugged it and after a few hours, plugged it in and it came on for about 5 minutes then shut off again. I ran the Diagnostic check and came up with a error code of 2-3. Through other postings this error code should be either a Horizontal Deflection failure or an error with the Deflection protect. Is this a major repair/worth fixing? Love this TV and it's only 5 years old. Thanks

I believe it is going to be a major repair and I would hesitate to invest much money into it. I think the age of this set is older than 5 years. The VS model series were manufactures before the WS model series and they have been around for 8 years or so. Never the less, parts availability is getting tougher. If your pain thresh hold is 300.00 or 400.00
go for it. If not, check out new sets.
Hope this helps,
Sky Assoc

Have Hd 1080 series tv model # vs-50111 tv will not turn on. When you try to turn it on green light stays on for 3 seconds then nothing.

it may or may not have the self check but try this:

When green light comes on and goes off ON THE FRONT OF THE SET press and hold the menu and input buttons at same time for 5 seconds or more and release both.

Power light should blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks and pause--repeat it several times--all their sets after 1999 have this feature.

If yours does not someone has to go inside and measure voltages etc to find problem---a lot of the older ones develop broken solder connections and the chassis would have to be examined for that.

Can not turn off the vchip channel lock on hd 1080

hello try this Bypassing the V-Chip Lock
After you set the lock, you need your
passcode to view a V-Chip locked program,
view the locked TV, cancel the lock, or enter
the V-Chip lock menus.
If you forget your passcode, you can
view the locked TV without entering your
passcode. This is done by pressing the
number 9 and QV buttons on the remote
TV control at the same time, when your
password is requested. This process
temporarily unlocks the TV.
When entering the V-Chip Lock menu, this
process deletes your old passcode and
prompts you to enter a new passcode. good luck

Flashing Tv screen

Turned out to be a problem with my dish receiver. Found out by attaching a separate DVD unit to the TV, and it didn't flash. I then realized everything ran through the dish receiver. Called them, reset ( by unplugging for 90 seconds) and all was well.
