Canon powershot SD1200 IS says Memory Card Error

Your memory card might have gone bad. Try a different memory card. If you still have a problem, verify that you have downloaded the files per your camera's owner's manual.

Try another card.You may have had a static discharge problem.
You can try some recovery software on a computer to restore the pictures.

is your memory card in the camera. If it is there is your camera compatible with the card that you bought. Also do you check to make sure the card is not write protected. There is a small switch on the side of the card.

The Canon PowerShot SD1200 uses SD and SDHC cards. These cards have a small plastic slider on the front of the card that will lock/unlock the card.

See the example below:


Slide the lock switch in the opposite direction.

this card does take sdhc cards so that shouldnt be a problem, if your using it with 32gb try a smaller card like 4 or 8gb. if you can, try another card and try using a memory card reader with your computeer to see if it reads it. if all failes its probably time for a new sd card

Your memory card is an SD type. These cards have a little switch on the card that can write protect or "lock" it. Take the card out of the camera and check this switch. To unlock it, it should be moved towards the edge of the card which has the electrical contacts.

There can be several reasons for this, try these in this order;

- unplug your camera from the computer. Make sure your computer has the latest driver for this camera

- reset all the settings on your camera to the default settings, your manual will show you how to do this.
- in order to at least salvage the pictures you can view the memory card directly either plugging it into your computer directly or if you don't have a slot for this card, you can use a card reader. these are sold in any electronics store and are quite cheap.

Move the slide switch on the side of the card.

Use a USB card reader on your computer.
