Is this the initial set up or did the sound suddently stop working? The usual fixes: mute on/off? go to the menu and select "audio", check the settings there. if this is the initial setup, do you have the cables connected properly? if you are running HDMI/USB and or Optical cables, it can be confusing !!
Dropping a laptop is never good news. Have you tried to Cold-Start the laptop, unplug. remove battery, leave battery out for now, plug in try to start normally. If that fails, Did you remove the HDD and reseat? The damage from the drops may have jarred something loose. Do you get activity, light blinking, from the HDD? The DVD/CD?
Sounds like ether a blown power supply. That happens when the laptop battery has alittle juice left.
Try to take out the battery from the bottom and plug the laptop in the wall. If the laptop powers up you battery needs to be replaced. If it doesn't power up, you need to replace the power supply.
Make sure your batter is fully charged, and is not bad. This kind of reaction can happen with a weak battery or partly charged. If that is not it, then the camera needs repair.
Remove the batteries and clean the battery contacts inside the camera
with a soft cloth (a heavy buildup on the contacts may require cleaning
with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue
that the cleaning leaves in the camera, and then reinstall the
batteries. This clears most power-on problems, but if yours persists,
