I suggest you just wait for it mine can take minutes to start up but it still turns on so wait a few minutes if not working get someone to look at it
Heres a kid who owns a mix max's opion if it isn't reading you probably have to put in the cd in your computer and install it( more info on that in the manual). The easiest solution to get on on refre to the manual, Hold the on button for about 10-15 second, or get a prefessional. For it not charging it may have meet it's maximum amount of charges. If i recall correctly you can charge it a cerrtain amout of times before it won't charge anymore. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem with the mix max not starting. Actually, I've experienced every possible problem that has been mentioned on this site. It is stuck on the starting screen. It says "Free 4mb of space to Build Music Library". I have reformatted the player (directions are in the manual) previously to solve these problems and have used the reset button. The player then required "reformatting" every time my daughter switched from viewing videos to playing mp3's. I am very displeased with this product. Usually the Disney name is synonymous with quality but Disney missed the mark in partnering with Memorex for this product.
i have the same problem with my sons and i cannot even get my computer to recognize it so that i can reformat it. i am buying him an apple next time, i have had an ipod for 2 yrs and i have never had any of these issues with it.
my disney mix max want even turn on, the screen dont turn on at all even when i pluge it into a computer or on to the charger.
It wont turn on ...it isn't charging or anything when I hook it up to the computer...It came strait from the box charged it up installed software made sure I had the newest copy of wmp put 3 songs on it..it worked for an hour ...turned it off and that was it never came back on. Some times the computer will pick it up and give me all this driver info I've done every thing...I can't reformat it either because it wont pop up propperly
