Leaking water in front left side

Hi,

I have a Maytag refrigerator model msd2555dr
It is leaking in the front left side and seems to be coming from ice melting in the inside that accumulated on the bottom. I am thinking of putting a bowl on the bottom to catch any water. I'm not sure where the leak is coming from. From what I've been reading, it seems that the drain pipe could be clogged and the drain pan defective. Please advise! Thanks! -Tom

Hi tom
yes the drain tube may be glogged and when the unit defrosts the water just flows to the bottom of the un it then eventally out, if you have a clogged drain, you will see water on a pretty reglar basis
8, 10, 12 hours
the drain pipe is behind the back wall on the freezer, if you take that off you will se an ice build up, remove that ice and clear the drain tube
you may need to pull out the machine and remove the tube from the back to ensure that it is entirley clear

Ice maker leaking

Are you sure it's the ice maker that's leaking? We have this model & ours accumulates a HUGE iceberg in the bottom of the freezer, but the water seems to be coming out of the back, at the bottom of the back panel, where the vents are.

My Maytag side-by-side refrigerator/freezer Leak

There is a pan and drain hose under the freezer coil that is there to catch any water when the freezer goes into defrost. I feel strongly that is where you will find your leak.
I hope this helps.

I will look for your service manual and tell you that first it's most likely a blockage in the defrost condensate line. There are many reasons for this happening for example water leaking from a water supply line for the dispenser or ice maker, a in the defrost pan,
water leaking and draining through the refrigerator cabinet, but most are caused by a defrost drain line blockage.

You have a plugged up defrost drain. There should be a drain hole way in back of the freezer, at the bottom. (it should be behind the panel at the back of the freezer compartment) Use a turkey baster with warm water to flush it out until water runs out the hole into the defrost drain pan under the refrigerator.

Water leaking underneath refrigerator/water freezing in bottom of freezer

I'm dealing with the same problem right now with the same refrigerator. The cold water tank (for the front dispenser) has a hole in it that leaks every time someone dispenses water from the front door. You will find the water tank behind the top slide-out drawer in the fridge. The leaked water flows down one of the water tubes through a hole in the bottom of the fridge and onto the floor. I'll bet you have the same problem. Good Luck.

Refrigerator leak

the water fill tube for i/m is on the back of ref. the tube you have is to the water dispenser. look in freezer floor, is it full of ice? if so, remove all ice and clear drain hole for evap. if not, reassemble what you took apart and inspect tube under ref. while someone runs water dispenser. find leak and repair.
