There are 2 Convergence Chips: 1 for Horizontal (it includes Red, Green and Blue Convergence channels) and 1 for Vertical (it includes Red, Green and Blue Convergence channels). Horizontal Convergence Chip is 7044 and Vertical convergence Chip is 7045 (both STK392-120). They are fixed in same "big" Heat Sink, with a 2 metal black clips, from Video Inputs board side.

How to locate convergence chips in philips HDTV 60pp9202?

after removing the rear cover look at the large circuit board on the left side looking in and you will see the large metal heat sinks with fins. The two ICs are located on the heat sinks. There are also 12 6.8 ohm resistors that will need to be checked and possibly replaced.

PHILLPIS 60PP9202 MAKES SQUEALING NOISE WHEN TURNED ON.

Sounds like one of two problems

1) Convergence chips are shorted....One quick test is to desolder and remove both STK392 chips....then power the set on. If the tubes light up the chips were shorted. You can get new ones from www.TvRepairKits.com

2) Another possible problem is a bad HVG - AKA the flyback.

Try the convergence chip test first. Note: On some Philips sets you can just unplug cable "1516" instead of removing the chips.

My Philips HDTV 60PP9202 has blue and red curved lines

Check to see if you can adjust the convergence. If you can't adjust the red and blue in all directions you need to replace the convergence chips and resistors. If you not sure how to check the convergence goto the site www.TvRepairKits.com and goto the Tips section.

SPEED BUMP OR BOWING

Your convergence chips and convergence resistors are going bad. When they fail the screen colors will look distorted/3d looking. Another symptom is one or more colors can't be converged using the convergence menu. You can purchase the parts over the internet. Just make sure you get Sanyo brand convergence chips and the correct flame proof resistors. You can also check the site www.TvRepairKits.com for a kits.  Just make sure you replace both of the convergence chips and all of the convergence resistors.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Double picture/red shadow

You may need to sinlpy adjust the convergence. Check your owners manuel for the proper way to access the convergence screen and follow it step by step. If this doesn't work, you may have a bad convergence chip. Here is my generic post for convergence.
You most likely have a convergence chip bad. In our shop, when we are working on projection TVs, we find that about 80% of the repairs we make are the same problem you are having. You need to replace the convergence chip ( there are 2 of the same chips on the convergence board, and I suggest you replace both ). If you are going to attempt the repair yourself you'll need to remember to use lots of heat sink grease so you don't have the same problem again. Also, try to get original parts, as there are times that the after-market ones don't work well. As a precaution, always remember to unplug the set from the wall before you do any work on the set. Good Luck

Menue and multipoint

I fixed this tonight -- it was the convergence amps, which I purchased for $20. Thought it was the convergence board at first but it turned out to be the amps, which commonly fail after 3 years or so.
