Onkyo SR606 video upconversion problem.

I have an Onkyo SR606. I am attempting to connect my Time Warner Cable Box (only has Component video output)
When connecting the A/V cables to the Cable/Sat inputs on the back of the Onkyo, I get audio, but no video to the television.
I have a single HDMI connection to my tv.
I do get a (blue screen) on the tv (rather than the black screen when nothing is connected).
I have tried connecting the Component video directly to the component input of the TV and do get a video signal that way, so I know the Cable box is outputting video.
Any idea's

Pressed and held cable/sat button on front of unit until "Attenuate" came up. Changed setting from 0 to 2

It is a common problem for this model. One or a few capacitors on HDMI board have to be replaced. Sins they are surface mount, I would not recommend you to attempt replacing them. Contact Onkyo to arrange service.

No component video with my Wii (component audio and HDMI video/audio both fine). It used to work fine, but now it won't show any picture regardless of which component IN I use. I checked all assigned...

Hello, I am sorry about your issue. Did you make any changes to the output resolution on the Wii. The output must be at 480i for the receiver to up-convert to HDMI. If there is a problem with the receiver I suggest a work around by connecting the component [red, blue, green] video outputs to the TV and the audio connections [red, white] to the receiver. Thank you, Onkyo USA

I am trying to connect a DVD player with analog composite video connection with output to HDMI output. Audio works fine, however no video signal detected. Connected to front AUX connection and verified...

I would like to prove the video connector from the DVD to Aux (or wherever) works without upconversion to HDMI. Connect your monitor to the receiver's composite Out jack and see what happens with the DVD video.

Read and interpret the discussion on pages 22 and 100 very carefully to make sure nothing else is assigned to whichever video input path you choose for the DVD. Then try it somewhere else to see if that changes anything.

Connecting a wii to an Onkyo TX-SR607 7.2

I am experiencing issues like this although with a VCR connected with analog video. I added a BluRay DVD player and all of a sudden I lost my video upconversion from my VCR. I am going to try to reset the receiver to see if this fixes the problem. If not, I don't think it is the receiver issue, I think it may be the fact that enorder for video to pass through HDMI, allot of criteria needs to be met. Certain Handshakes need to happen, especially with the HDCP issues. Most likely I will connect a separate video cable to my Plasma and use a secondary input on the Plasma for the VCR signal. You may want to purchase the Component Video adapter for the wii system as this will provide you with at least 480p and your receiver should not have an issue passing the signal over the HDMI output. Good luck and give me an update.

Onkyo TX-SR606 getting no sound from HDMI sources on speakers. I have a motorola cable box and a panasonic DMP BD-35K blueray player both attached to the SR606 via HDMI cables (HDMI3 and 1 respectively)...

Not sure if this is your fix, but I had what I thought was the same problem. I played with my Onkyo quite a bit ensuring the correct assignments for HDMI, audio and all that stuff. Turns out I neglected to make sure the output devices were properly assigned. Many devices aren't default to output sound over HDMI. I changed the audio out settings on the cable box to HDMI and suddenly the Onkyo worked great. I know, I'm an idiot for not checking that in the first place, but maybe someone out there is having the same trouble as well.

Humming sound on cable setting

have you tried to input another audio source into the audio inputs on the reciever that the cable box outputs are going into on the reciever ?
you may also need to ground the recievers frame and cable box frame to earth ground.
you also may have a bad connection in the wires or jacks for the audio connections
or the cable box audio out circuit needs repair

Ipod Dock connection

The Red, green, blue from this adaptor cable

go into any of the RGB inputs on the Onkyo

The R/W go into the corresponding inputs for audio, Red and White.

One thing to note,

IF you are running one source RGB like you want to do,
you may have to monitor output the video of the amp RGB to the TV, most of these amps do not like to mix HDMI with anything else.

So If you have one HDMI going out to the TV, this solution will not work. You should look at the manual for the Onkyo regarding what paths can pass at the same time. There is usually a small disclaimer in the HDMI section.

Hope that solves your question.

Clicking noise from Onkyo TX-SR606 during television broadcast

I seem to recall a sub-menu setting having to do with "auto shut off" or something like that.

My receiver is packed up, ready to take to Fry's, or I would find that submenu for you.

ONKYO TX-SR606 Single output to TV

Hi there. for your receiver, the only time it can upconvert is when you go out as HDMI. In your current hookup (component out to tv) the signal from your cable (using a composite) will not be able to pass through the component cable. This means you either have to hook up your cable box using a component cable as well or add a composite cable (yellow) from monitor out of the receiver to the tv. Page 22 of the manual will show a diagram of the video signal flow. hope this helps.. ^_^

Onkyo tx-sr606 can not get it to work w tv using hdmi cables

try using a HDMI cable connecting the receiver from the "out" to the tv, then allocate through the setup menu what you have connected, say a cable box by hdmi, you would go to cable/sat allocate the port "hdmi1 or coax 1" then return. If it is a dvd click on dvd then allocate eg: "hdmi 2" then return.
