Whirlpool ED2CHQXKB05, QUESTION:Where is the water filter, I looked in the bottom left side under the grill and there is no filter. I see the water line. I wonder if someone removed the filter and just put the two lines together? What water filter do I need? Sears said they don't know unless I bring the old one, but I don't have it. What to do?

The water filter is at the very bottom on the left side of the grille. There is a check valve that will allow to simply unscrew and replace the filter, but be careful, nevertheless, to turn the water valve off before replacing it

Filters situated in the base grill (below the freezer compartment) of Whirlpool-built side-by-side refrigerators are relatively simple to replace. Follow these two steps:

1. Grasp the filter's end and make a one-quarter turn to the left.
2. Pull the filter straight out.

To replace with a new filter, repeat these two steps in the opposite order, making sure to first remove the red cap from the filter. Proceed by pushing the filter straight into the slot, and then giving it a one quarter turn to the right.
Note: Replacing this type of filter is quick - there is no need to unplug your refrigerator when replacing it. Also, this filter should be replaced every six months.

The original part number is 4396841; cartridge T2RFWG2. The filter fits into the grill at the bottom of the refrigerator (nearly centered on the left hand side of the grill). There is a cap covering the filter.

The fridge can be used without a filter if the cap is taken off the old filter and put back into place. its not under the grill its the big round hole on the grill

Push button? It should be a turn to the left to remove if it is a whirpool located at the bottom. These are twist out not push to release. The only push to releases are made by electrolux.

most whirlpools have the filter located in the bottom kickplate, right below the freezer door. turn counter-clockwise and toward you to remove. if it has never been removed before, they are hard to get out the first time.

most refrigerators have the water valve in the rear of the unit which you can easily find. shut off the water supply line and unscrew the connection at the valve. it has a garden hose type connector. then with a small screw driver pop out the filter screen , run it under water until it's clean then re install it squarely in the valve reattach fill line and turn water back on. that's it

All of the bottom grills are removable. They snap in very tight and I always worry that Ill break it. They push into a clip on each end. On the Amana they instruct to pull out from the bottom on each side. Suggest looking for user manuel on web for your simular model for specific instructions!

Yes if it is the filter that is located where the bottom grill is..... It rotates 1/4 trun counter clockwise. If you cant seem to break it loose try removing the grill by pulling it towards you (it clips on) take not of the tabs on the grill and the clips on either side of the fridge. Now you can get a better grip. Also its a good time to look and see how dirty coil is under refrig.

Its in the bottom grill. Look for a round cap. Twist 1/4 turn and remove.
