I set-up my wireless network last year and the password I am using is not working to set-up a new connection. I might have the wrong password and would like to either confim what it is or just create a new one. I bought a TiVo and went to connect it but it is saying to check my WEP and that is in not correct.
Please HELP!
Thanks,
Angelo
The devices ip address is "192.168.0.1". type that into a web browser and a login screen will show up. enter your account password (not wep), or if u never did this before just leave it blank.
Then you can go to wireless configuration and change the code. I suggest using WPA2 as you can use a password instead of a really long code.
Poop in a trash bag
On the computer that is connected go to your wireless tab. search for your wep key. it may be encrypted, but just change it to whatever you would like your new passcode to be.
There should be a reset button on the back of the wireless device, if you hold this button in for apx. 15 seconds it will reset the device to factory defaults, then you can access it via the web using the device's IP address. Example http://192.168.1.1 From here you can configure the device the way you want it. BPCS
Access the router's default configuration address through your Web browser by entering this address: http://192.168.1.1 (see Resources). Do not enter a user name. Enter "admin" for the password. That process works for all new Linksys routers. If you have changed the user name or password in the past, use the user name and password that you created.
When the configuration screen opens, click on the "Wireless" tab and select "Wireless Security" to view the router's current security password. The "Security Mode" field will say "Disabled" if you do not have a password to secure your network.
Select the appropriate encryption type from the "Security Mode" drop-down menu. Linksys routers offer WEP and WPA encryption. WPA encryption allows you to use a single password to access the network. WEP encryption creates 10- or 26-character keys that act as your password. Some of your wireless devices may only utilize a certain type of encryption. Determine which protocol is best for your network.
Enter a password that will be required to access the network. For WPA encryption, you can write your own password. For WEP encryption, click the "Generate" button to create passwords that can be used to access the network. Write down your passwords and keep them in a secure location.
Click "Save Settings" to confirm your changes. Your network will now be secured and will require a password for access.
Click the "Administration" tab to create a password to access the router configuration page itself. Be sure to change the password from the default "admin." Reenter the password for confirmation in the next field. Click "Save Settings" to confirm your new password.
First of all you need to access the router. Use the
following:
Access the
D-Link Configuration Screen
Open your web
interface and type "http://192.168.0.1" into the address
bar, then hit "Enter" or "Return."
Use
"Admin" as the username and leave the password blank when the login
screen appears.
Click "OK."
You should now see the D-Link configuration screen.
Secondly, it would be better if only you could change the
settings of the router.
Set Up General Security
Change your
administrative password by clicking on the "Tools" tab and choosing
the "Admin" button. Enter a new password under the
"Administrator" heading. Confirm it, and click "Apply."
Disable the
wireless Local Area Network (LAN) if you don't need to use the wireless access
and you want to make sure no one else is able to access your network.
Under the
"Home" tab, choose "Wireless" and select the
"Off" option.
Last, is the
answer to your problem. Follow:
Enable
Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP)
Locate the
"Home" tab in the D-Link Configuration screen, and click on the
"Wireless" button.
Use the
"Open System" button beside "Authentication."
Select the
"Enabled" button next to "WEP," and set the encryption key
to "128 bit."
Set the
"Key Type" to "ASCII" and choose a 13-digit password for
the "Key 1" field.
Write down
the password in a secure location.
Click "Apply."
WPA2-PSK
(data encryption TKIP or AES)
WPA-PSK
(data encryption TKIP or AES)
WEP (256
Bit) - Weak, but better than no encryption
WEP (128
Bit) - Weaker, but better than no encryption
WEP (64
Bit) - Weakest, but better than no encryption
plz do rate the solution if got help
