This refers to the internal counter, actually located in the software on the computer
determing that your waste ink pads are likely saturated and need replacement. You can download software from either
Epson at
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp or at
http://www.ssclg.com/download/sscserve.exe. Both of these software packages will allow resetting the counter. However one should either take the printer in to an authorized
Epson or
independent printer service company or if comfortable with messing around inside computers and peripherals, one can check the waste ink pad(s). On the RX700 there is a small access panel, on the back of the unit, on the left hand side when facing the back of the RX700. It is held in place with a Phillips head screw and small plastic latch tab on its
bottom side. The pad material is clearly visible from here, with a pair of clear plastic waste ink tubes directed down into this waste ink
receptacle. If this is saturated, wet and discolored, it should be replaced, before resetting the counter. Not doing so risks the excess waste ink overflowing and making a mess and possibly even shorting out some of the circuitry.
