Is it virus-infected?
In my personal experiences, your problem could be resolve in these three ways:
1). Try to unhide these files.
According to your description, your files may be hidden anyway. Try to show them all up again:
Start => Run => Type in "control folders" and press "OK" =>Click "View" and hook "Show hidden files and folders"=> Press "OK".
2). Scan your camcorder with antivirus tool
Sometimes, the virus also would hide the files make them invisible for you. So, just try to do antivirus scan on your computer. (You should take care not to delete some needed files in the process.)
3). Restore your files back by using a deleted photo recovery freeware:

This problem also could be caused by the camera problems. So, if you want to save these files, you'd better try to use a photo recovery freeware that always could help retrieve the inaccessible files back for free:

Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for.

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don't have one, get one, they're inexpensive.

The reason this occurred is that you likely never formatted the card. The card will work fine in the beginning but eventually will corrupt.

AFTER you've recovered the photos, format the card in your camera to prevent this from happening again. Go to the "tools" menu, and select the item stating your memory card's capacity. Then follow the on-screen prompts. But keep in mind formatting will also totally erase your card, so again only do this after you've recovered the photos.

Is there any way to retrieve deleted images from a

I'm sure you may have heard that when you delete a file from a computer, it is never "truly deleted." That statement, however, is only partly true. The files do not get deleted after, only the space that they occupy on the disk get prepared to be written over. When you reformatted the memory card in your camera, it did exactly that, and only prepared your pictures to be written over.

SO, the first thing you have to do after format is to not save any more pictures onto that memory card or you risk writing over the pictures that you are trying to recover!

Got that far? Now you need to choose the appropriate photo recovery software. There are a TON of different programs but some are better than others. I actually recommend a program called 001 Picture Recovery because they have an option that is designed for recovering photos from FORMATTED memory cards, not only deleted or corrupted photos. You can download this software here: http://www.001-software.com/picture-recovery/

Lastly, if the program does not recognize your SD Card as a drive when you are plugging the camera directly into the computer, you may need to directly plug your card into a card reader. Make sure that the card reader has the capabilities to handle your memory card though. Many older card readers can only handle cards up to 2GB, so if your card is bigger than that, you need a newer card reader.

I hope that helps, and that you get your pictures back like I did!

Accidentally deleted pictures off of camera [NOT memory card]

You can try to recover your pictures with this photo recovery software:

It uses unique modern algorithms to recover files that other software either recovers incorrectly or is unable to detect.

I have a Fujifilm finepix camera and my fujifilm XD card has a read error and won't show my pictures on the camera or in a card reader. Are there any free recovery programs out there?

Sometimes memory card error happens without any notice. But luckily most of the time we are able to fix the memory card error and get back files on the memory card. Take a look at this guide:

I have a sony dsc-f717 took several pictures and now i get format error 13:01 and can't retrieve the photos I've took and veiwed. Help retrieving

1st, try and download the pictures via your computer and a memory card adapter. If you're computer doesn't recognize the card through an adapter,

2) go to www.ita.sel.sony.com
Search by the model number of the Memory Stick. There is Memory Stick recovery software. follow the steps for the download and recovery.

3) On new/blank memory cards, I sometimes have to format the MS in the camera first, then everything works fine.

Yeah, if you format the memory card, you will lose all data on it. try to scan memory card with updated anti virus software and always use memory card by camera to PC.
