Mitsubishi LCD Projection with black and white screen specks

I have a 3 year old Mitsubishi LCD Projection. I am seeing numerous small black specs and some bright white specs on the screen. I thought the black specs were bugs but I am not sure. These are random and clustered. I opened the unit up and checked and cleaned the front screen, the mirror, the bulb and dusted the lens. This does not seem to be the issue. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: Location of MIrrors in projection tv

wd-52525 This is a DLP, I dont suggest taking it apart to clean anything, this is what we call a MICRO display, the imaging device is about 1" square and blown up 50X to the size of the pix you watch, anytime anyone I know has taken stuff appart where the mirror is at has ended up worse off, you say that there is dust on the mirror, what does it look like in your picture? If the spots are quarter size or so and fuzzy edges the dust is inside the lightengine and you want a factory cleanroom to service the LE, the one thing I think you can safely do is pull the lamp and check for dust on it as it can cause issues in pix, other than that I dunno what to tell you, hope this info helps.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WS-55819 power issue

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR LEAKY C9A60 470 PF 1000 V PART # 154P400030, PARALLEL TO D9A57 ON THE POWER PCB (NOT SHOWN IN THE SCHEMATIC). 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT. 3. SELF-DIAGNOSIS INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC4B01 PART # 270P261020 (VERTICAL OUTPUT) LOADING 24-VOLT SUPPLY LINE. LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB

SOURCE: black spot on screen

And yes, you are right. It is the light engine causing it. And unfortunatley you need to have your light engine replaced also. I've replaced several of them for that same reason. So I know what I'm talking about.

THERE ARE WHITE SPECKS ON THE TV. IF A PICTURE IS DARK U CAN REALLY SEE THEM. WHAT COULD THIS BE?

Hello, if it's a Mitsubishi DLP set, contact Mitsubishi, they are sending out the chip at no charge to repair the problem, but they do not include the labor. if you are handy, there is a video on how to do it, otherwise when you receive the part contact a repairman. If they know what their doing, they should be able to do it there for around $100-$135.....tks

I have a Mitsubishi Projection Television WD-65736. It has been great, but suddenly after 2 years of use there are grey specks all over the screen when it is turned on. And now today there are bright white...

I think if you were to remove the top portion of the set and carefully vacuum the dust off the lenses on top of the crt's, that will fix your problem as it sounds like a layer of dust has settled on the optics.

If it looks like a "star field" blue with white specks it is the light engine. Sony has extened the warranty on may of theses sets call an authorized sony service center and see if the optical block i still in waranty. I would to this asap as most of these extended waranties are running out!

Small red dot in center of 53" Hitachi projection tv

hi, not good news it`s probably a burn in on your red crt (picture tube), tv has to have back completely removed, which means top and bottom covers, (carefull with the top cover it`s heavier than u think, has mirror bolted to inside), turn on tv just long enough to light up all 3 crt`s to identify the red one, turn set off & look into red lens,(may need flashlight) if you see any black specks in center of tube it`s burnt and has to be replaced, be advised u will see gnats, ect. inside but your looking for specific speck, if no visible burn mark have tv man come out, otherwise it`s very pricey, hope this helps and not crt, video-tek

Hitachi 50 Rear Projection color TV

the easiest way is to turn the color all the way down to zero. Then notice the overall color of the screen, if it doesnt appear as a good black and white picture you will have to adjust the screens. To do that you have to remove the speaker grill cover and the small access panel, then depending on the chassis you will see a small square with 6 dials on it 3 on top and 3 on the bottom it will have screen stamped on it. adjust those 3 untill your screen appears the best black and white picture as possible. Now if your chassis only has 3 dials on the sgaure control box those are focusdont adjust them. . then the 3 CRT boards will have the dials you need adjust those for the best black and white picture. when your satisfied that you have a good black and white picture. then turn your color back up and adjust the tint.Let me know if you need more assistance.
