I have a problem with Sony KP-57WV600: When I turn it on there is sound and a blue picture for about 10 seconds then the screen goes black, sound continues ok. There is a red light on the front panel that blinks 7 times. Any Idea what the problem is? I would appreciate any asisstance.
Rowdyroddy,
Thanks you so much for this info.
I had the same problem with my Sony KW-57wv600. Blue screen turns black after a few seconds, and then standby light flashes seven times.
I called a local TV technician, and described problem. I was told it would not be cost effective to fix. After reviewing the "simple" instructions given on www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html I figured I had nothing to lose.
10 minutes to remove front panel, a "very slight" turn of a screw, and TV worked again perfectly. I could not believe it!
Thank you so much for your help!
SHAME ON SONY FOR NOT POSTING THIS FIX ON THEIR WEBSITE! SHAME ON THE TECHNICIAN AT SONY WHICH INSISTED A SERVICE TECHNICIAN WAS REQUIRED.
I have always been a fan of Sony, swearing by Sony products exclusively. After this experience, I am now forced to consider some other options when purchasing electronics in the future.
I too have 57wv600 and your problem is same as mine VOLTAGE withen tube is off ...this is common problem sony knows full well and will not tell us this voltage can be adjusted with a philips screwdriver i had blue lines then solid blue then shut off...7 blinking lights ...went to this site followed directions (too simple)and now i have perfect picture.serviceman said i needed new tube.b.s. ...so never change your tube it is not the prob!!!!!!!....go to www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html read post(comment) near bottom of page by paul t dated 12/26/2007 and instructions on how to remove our front panel is fully explained ...a screwdriver will fix your problem I guarantee it.....
I have a service manual for this TV with all the board layouts and lots of info. I am willing to share if someone can help with this problem. So far I have only been able to determine that I have the same problem, that either
1) a +B overcurrent is detected (IC5007), or
2) overheating is detected (Thermistor TH5002).
