You can either do a restore:
Connect to your computer and open itunes.
When you first open itunes you should be in "Devices"
Make sure you're in the "Summary" tab and you will have a button that says "Restore"
Click that and it will do the rest.

Or
Sync with an itunes library that has no files on it, this will also remove the files from your ipod.

You have to set up "playlists" in iTunes. This way, you can choose which playlist you want your shuffle updated with. If you don't want a song on your shuffle, take it off of the play list. The only way to change songs on any iPod is by connecting it to the computer and pulling up iTunes. Hope this helps.

Generally speaking, people will clean up their iPod with iTunes to erase the old songs and add new songs. iPod users have two ways to delete music from iPod with iTunes, and they can be helpful when iPod users want to get rid of the unwanted songs. iTunes provides automatic and manual methods to help iPod users manage the songs in their devices. When you are using the automatic way to manage iPod music, every time you connect iPod to computer with USB cable, your iPod will sync with iTunes Music library. If you have your iTunes Music library organized, you can delete unwanted music from iPod with this easy method. If you want to manually edit your iPod music, you can check Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically in iTunes by clicking Edit > Preferences > Devices. Then you can manually sync the songs and playlists to your iPod with iTunes.

Hi,
In iTunes Right click on the song or remove it from the playlist.
First off you should always back up your music and these devices really don't hold that much. You should start iTunes and connect the iPod. Does your iTunes recognize the shuffle? If so you need to be sure the current OS update is installed. If that doesn't work you will need to reset it. Both functions will wipe all of the songs you have on it but should resolve your issue.

SOURCE: cannot delete music from ipod shuffle

Deleting Files,Pictures,etc from MP3 Player

Hook up your mp3 player to your computer Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer" When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there. Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible. Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete" Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want. Good Luck, I hope this helps Please rate me, Thank You

You may try this ipod transfer, it's a nice iTunes alternative that can help you manage iPod files including delete, upload, play, copy, etc. It's much easier to use than iTunes.

I want to erase music of my ipod nano

Go to itunes and click on a song that you want to delete and press the delete button on your keyboard and it will ask you if you are sure you want to delete this song from all playlists and off the ipod and click yes and it will delete. Unfortunately, it will not let you delete it from the ipod menu without connecting it to a computer.

IPOD Shuffle deletes songs if I delete them from the music library in Itunes

You have to keep all the songs that you want on your iPod on your computer, otherwise you will get this problem. So if you want song "a" on your iPod it must also be in your iTunes library at all times unless you don't want it on your iPod anymore

Get yourself anapod from Redchair software, this works on older PC's and you just drag and drop songs onto your ipod. Its also very easy to delete tracks aswell.Anapod supports adding and deleting photos onto the ipod.
