Shuts off when suction starts

The vac keeps shutting off when I try to use. It powers on and then immediately powers off. The bag is new, electric and cords are ok. What else can it be? I want to fix this myself if possible

Hi there. In Panasonic vacuumsshuts off when suction starts - 2.gif, there is a thermostat protection on the motor. It will automatically shut off the motor if there is no airflow through the motor. This is typically caused by a clogged hose. Typically, if your dust container is that full, there could be backup in the hose. Or the dust container being too full could also or otherwise be the problem. Check your hose for blockage, let the machine cool off, it should start up again

Why does my Electrolux epic 6000 sr shut off with suction?

Hi,

If this Epic 6000 is shutting off when you either just turn it on or while vacuuming with it...it\'s one of several things...1. Change the bag if you\'ve been picking up a lot of "fine" dust such as drywall dust or carpet freshener powder. That\'s ******* them. 2. Being the machine is over 22 yrs. old, the suction control valve inside either needs to be replaced or just cleaned well. This is the usual cause of the vac shutting off especially if you\'ve tried the dial in several different settings. Hope that helps!

Electrolux EL7020 SHUTS OFF Constantly!

That problem have 2 causes..#1 is loose electrical connection inside or on the power cord..#2 is worn out carbon brush inside of vacuum motor..

Carbon brush is the one of the most serviceable parts of a vacuum cleaner because our vacuum cleaner motor is very hard working parts so the brush inside will possible worn or not connected to the armature of rotor...

Vacum shuts down when suction starts

Try turning the knob on the top of the vac all the way to the right.

Bag was full, changed it, the unit now turns off

Try dialing the control valve to the mid way position. If the unit still shuts down with the bag full light on you have a damaged control valve under the dial on the top of the vac.
This valve failure is common in this model and can only be repaired by someone with original AERUS Electrolux repair parts, generally at an AERUS repair shop.

I have a red c velvet. My vacuum keeps shutting

Could be you have a filter issue and it is overheating and shutting itself off. Make sure you have not put on the wrong filter type for the machine. Some of the pieces that come in the FJM boxes are not actually filters and people make the mistake of putting them on as filters. The other major problem that could be happening is that there is some problem with the hose itself. On my vacuum it will shut itself off after 2-5 minutes, but the power light remains on. I have to press the up button to get more suction, but that only lasts until it shuts itself off again. If I unplug the hose from the cannister... the power comes on fully and the vac never shuts itself off.
A tech told me that the likelihood is that there is some component or connection in the hose control that is causing faulty shutdown. He told me I would need a new hose costing $175. After a year of trying different things, I am convinced he is right and we need to bite it and just buy a new hose.

My almost new miele Dog and Cat vac keeps telling me the bag is full when it's not (new bag, no clogs)and I have almost no suction. Any ideas?

Remove the hose and check the suction. It it is still bad check to see if the canister is closing on the bag. Most likely the hepa filter needs replaced. Here http://www.totalvac.com/mielevacuumcleanerfilters.htm

EL7020A ELECTROLUX VAC SHUTS OFF AFTER 10 MIN

The symptoms you describe are typical of a vac that has a blockage (hence poor suction). It cuts out because it's over-heating. You need to check the hose, the filters and anywhere else where something may have got stuck. Blockages are often caused by things like paper clips, but can be caused by something as apparently harmless as a piece of paper which gets stuck and then debris builds up behind it and causes a log-jam.
