Are you playing the movie on the DVD or the VCR?
Why is the DVD plugged into the outputs instead of the VCD inputs?

  • Anonymous Dec 31, 2007

Assuming this doesn't happen when just playing a tape on the VCR, the
problem would be in the DVD player. Have you tried hooking the
player to some other TV or monitor? If it works there, then you
have a rare problem with the VCR's A/V inputs. Could you post a
pic of what the display looks like with the tracking like distortion?

I would like to be able to connect the Zenith portable DVD player to my TV to watch DVD's on my TV. I have a model number ZPA-314.

If your DVD player and TV have RCA jacks, (3 wires: 2 audio, 1 video) simply patch between the two. If TV does not have RCA jacks, plug the DVD wires (3) into the 'line input 1' on VCR. This way, the VCR is acting as a 'converter' btwn. the DVD player and the TV.

Volume is not working

get a splitter that allows you to plug 2 sets of headphones in the portable dvd player.

The sound is the only place were this machine falls short. The sound is okay at best with the built in speakers, but any background noise makes it nearly impossible to hear anything from them even with the volume all the way up. Not surprising since due to the size of the player the speakers are only a little bigger then headphone speakers, but with headphones or portable plug-in speakers the sound is superb. Besides the sound the only 2 complaints are that you can not control the volume with the remote and that the power switch is too easily turned on by accident (do not travel with the battery attached or you will find you have no charge when it comes time to watch a movie). The battery lasts 3.5 to 4 hours, long enough for 2 short movies or 1 long one.

, headphones are a must, or get a device to play the audio through your car stereo ($15-$25). The player has the option to either input or output the A/V so you could play video games on the run or you could hook up a VCR and watch VHS...be creative

Dual portable dvd player second screen not working

Sounds like it may be a bad linking cable or connection. Make sure you have cables inserted firmly and correctly. If possible, hook main unit to TV to be sure you are getting proper Video/Audio output.

Can only get DVD audio when hooking it up to Goldstar VCR...

The DVD must be connected with the RCA jacks-plugs [usually black & red] to the INPUT of the VCR, not to the RF connector. You must press the VCR\TV button to VCR so that the VCR takes control. When you place a DVD movie or AUDIO program it could be copied to the VCR. or played through the VCR.

Portable DVDs

Salutations jwatts325,

There are specific models that have auxillary monitors that will be powered from the main unit. Unfortunately if its not configured with an auxiliary unit there isn't a way to chain two portable units together.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
