Since it is a Laptop you can not just go over to the Scroll Bar. Move the arrow from the mouse over to the scroll bar. Hold on the left key below the mousepad. The scroll bar should turn a differnt color. Move the scroll bar up and down with your finger, using the mousepad.

I have an HP Laptop and my scroll bar on the mousepad quit working. is there a procedure/action to get it functional again?

you may want to try either downloading the scroll bar drivers from HP.com or you should have a directory call swsetup on your hard drive which also had the scroll bar driver.
If all else fails, do a hardware restoration from your F-11 and just restore hardware and not complete system restoration.

Scroll sections on mousepad not working

It's not working because it's either not enabled in your control panel any more, or the driver that allows the scrollbars to be used is not installed. This will happen if you've formatted your computer, or tried uninstalling software you didn't think you needed.

All you have to do is go to Compaq's website, enter the serial number of your computer in the search box, and you should find a Drivers and Downloads type section that will contain a list of all the drivers your computer needs, including the one for your mousepad.

Scroll sections on mousepad not working

almost certainly this means that the drivers for the touchpad have reverted to the windows generic drivers. Try the driver from Compaq here. Sadly, without knowing the OS and exact model number of the laptop I can't be more specific on the link than that. The exact model of the laptop is usually printed on a sticker on the bottom.

Mousepad on the laptop--

First try a system restore. if the first restore point doesn't work go back a couple more. If this doesn't do it, then unistall the drivers for the touch pad, sometimes called the synaptic pointing device, from the device manager and reboot. The machine will find the touch pad and automatically reinstall the drivers. If it still doesn't work, then check the connection, they sometimes will work loose or get a little dirt or corrosion build up. If it's still not working at this point, then it is very possible that it has failed and will need replaced.
