Phone can not get adail tone on phone, checked line, every things ok the words on telephone screen says ''on hook dail''

Check your fax line connection is the FAX line plugged into the Line jack on the copier and NOT THE TELE connector. Must be Line. Take a old phone like a old princess phone and hook it up to the wall get a good dial tone call some one any noise? Have some one call the fax number OK if hooked to the copier get the tradition noise of a fax line, Check the fax line itself use only one with two wires not four, black and yellow only no red and green. Also put on one of the EMI devices on the cable going into the copier cut down on electrical noise. Line can not be digital must be all analog (POT) Plain Old Telephone, have your phone provider check the line.

Unplug the phone line from the fax machine. Wait at least 1 minute then call the phone number that goes to the fax machine from another line such as a cell phone. Make sure you get a ring and not a busy signal. If you get a ring then hang up the phone. Plug in the fax machine again and call the fax number again. If you get a busy signal then either your phone if off the hook, the switch that is actuated when the phone is placed in the cradle is bad or your modem in the fax machine itself has gone bad. Another thing to try is unplug the fax machines power cord for 30 seconds then plug it back in. I have seen the modems get "locked up" and keep the phone line open. Unplugging will sometimes reset this and get it working again.

Is the phone line going to the modem live?

There is usually a switch to change it from dial pulse to touch tone.If there is no switch check your user manual to see if there is a screen option.

WHat model is the fax machine? Also check to make sure that the phone line and the fax line are not 2 different phone jacks. Also if the phoneline and fax line are on the same jack, make sure to program the fax number into the fax machine. Also, double check if the fax machine has an in and out phone jack that it is in the in jack.
