If you've recently dropped the camera you may have damaged the lens tube (housing) or jarred the zoom mechanism off of its track. Both problems will cause the camera to shut off in order to prevent further damage, and both require professional repair. If the camera has not been dropped, your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may be too weak/worn to properly power the camera, or the camera may require professional repair.

The extension of the lens noise cannot be turned of but you can turn off the simulated 'click' noise in the setting menus. I believe it is under options.

My camera makes noise when it's turned on, but not while reviewing pictures.

hi!
What you describe sounds perfectly normal! While powering on the camera, it takes out the lens and perhaps doing some mechanical self-tests. All this means moving parts using little servos inside the camera. Same happens when taking pictures - the lens moved, the shutter closes (and reopen), etc...
While watching the pictures you've taken, you're only reading digital info. from the memory cards - no moving parts, no mechanical movements - hence, no noise!

Take care,
Pelu.

Lens makes noise when camera is turned on/off

I had the same problem and took it back to where I purchased it (5 months previous) and had it sent away for repair. I was asked if there was any sand in the lens or if I dropped it (no to both) Turned out that the lens had to be replaced due to malfunction.

Says lens error!!!!!

The best solution is to take it to Best Buy and have them look at it. The Kodak camera could still be under warranty.

Clicking noise

Hi,I also experience this but it isn't a fault it is just the auto aperture! You will notice that as you move the camera around the noise kicks in as the light changes.
