I just installed the MS VX-6000 webcam. The video looks fine, but when the speaker volume in unmuted, a static noise comes from the speakers. Adjusting the volume just makes the sound louder or softer. Do you know what I can do to make this problem go away? We're running Windows XP, SPS2 on an HP m7250n.
You need a screwdriver, lots of courage and readiness to void the camera warranty.
Got that?
Now follow the instructions

i installed Microsoft VX-6000. Video looks fine.I am using Microsoft wireless lifechat microphone and headset. After sometime audio problem- with static noise is coming.. if i wait for some time it is stopping and the voice is clear.. This is happening frequently every one or two mintues.
I have the same problem. I tried to initiate a video call and the other side can hear me just fine, but all I get is static and speaker feedback. I've tried calling Microsoft and working with them, but so far to no avail. I've done all the on-line support recommendations - resetting the sound options, moving the speakers...nothing.
I also have the same problem with the static. Is there any way to clear this up?

I have installed a Microsoft NX-3000 live video cam and just recently have been getting a loud pulsating noise over the speakers, both internal and external. My system is wireless. I have disconnected and reconnected all connections and it did not resolve the problem. The lights on the router pulsate with the noise.
