GE gas oven won't come on

I have a GE gas stove/oven model #JGSC12GEV1BG (best I can tell). The oven pilot is on but the oven will not come on. It worked fine Sunday, but will not light today. The burners on top work fine and the pilot will stay lit, but the "burner" just wont light up and get hot. Any ideas?

SOURCE: stove top pilot light

I have a GE Gas Stove XL44 the stove top buners don't light by themselves without manual lighting. When I turn on the buner knob the buner doesn't click. Also I used my self- cleaning oven for the first time and stopped it before the time was up after that is when the stove top buners wouldn't light by theirselves.

SOURCE: gas oven dosnt work

the pilot light is there for 2 purposes. number 1 to light the burner and number 2 to heat up the thermocouple, thermocouple is a wire that the flame from pilot suppose to surround by fire. if the pilot is to low it will not reach the thermocouple. you can take the gas line that supplies gas to the pilot and clean it with a safety pin or a small needle. you can test the thermocouple by heating it up with a blow torch on low heat, get it red hot and then turned on the oven. if the oven works clean the pilot, if the oven do not work, replace the thermocouple if separate from safety valve. if thermocouple is part of it replace the safety valve.

SOURCE: GE Spectra TrueTemp Oven Pilot is Out

REmove bottom panel from stove. shut gas off for at LEAST 5 min. Longer is better. Then placel open flame above gas nozzle, slowly turn to ignite posiiton. After it is lit, wait 30 seconds and turn to on positon.
If by chance this model doens't have a knob for this, then turn gas valve off for 5 min, let fumes evaporate, light flame, place over nozzle, turn gas on.replace bottom oven panel slowly.

SOURCE: my stove will not ignite...but the burners do

There is no pilot. The oven has an electric ignitor to light the flame. This ignitor is very common repair.
You can remove the floor panel inside the oven and start the oven. Watch to see if the ignitor glows. Even if the ignitor glows, it should ignite the flame with in 30 seconds. They get weak and don't pull enough amps to open the gas valve.
I hope this helps you. please let me know if I can assist you further.

My GE XL44 Gas Range (Model JGBP34 GEP 1A) control

If you like the stove and it in good shape otherwise, have it fixed. The parts are still available. The stove in good used condition (without leak) is probably worth $75.00. May cost that much to repair it. Will cost approximately $450.00 to replace it with equal range. If it's a standing pilot model (no electricity needed) they are unavailable and your new range will require power to use the oven. Hope this helps.

Where is the pilotlight on a ge xl44 gas stove I belive it is in the door under the oven well I turned the gas on and stuck a flame down there and nothen took off is there a certian place to put the flame....

In general lets be clear. The OVEN pilot is located under the oven door at the top of the Broiler. It is a small piece of metal just before the GAS safety Valve which acts on temperature so gas won't flow unless Pilot is lit,That's the OVEN PILOT.The stove's RANGE is the top burners where you heat Pots and Pans.It has either 2 Pilot lights that connect the burners to the Flame they are under the Range Top.Newer Models use electronic ignitions no flame. Please note if you had your stove/oven disconected or Gas off when you turn it back on there will be air in the line that needs to escape before you light. This is why in NYC when Utility Co.works on steet main the MUST re-light your appliances.Be Careful with Gas.Good Luck.

How do you light the pilot on a GE stove The top of the stove works

Hi, If this model has a standing pilot, use a lighter and put the flame to the back center next to the burner assembly. Most newer models have electric ignitors now. It is fastened to the burner assmbly on the laft side.
If this an electric ignitor, turn the oven on and see if the ignitor glows. These ignitors are a very common problem and will probavly need replaced.
Please let me know if I can assist youu further.

Getting to the Pilot

Your model JGBP28DED2WH uses spark ignition on the stove top burners, and a glow bar ignitor, part number WB2X9154 for the oven and broiler. To get to the bake ignitor if oven will not light: Take the racks out of the oven. Remove oven floor by removing two screws at back of oven floor and lifting floor. Remove the square metal flame spreader to get to the burner / ignitor assembly. (note: The ignitor may still glow when you try it, but usually is still the problem)

GE STOVE MODEL JGBS15GE

Often times you will have problems with the gas thermostat and not necessarily with the safety valve. Once you have lit the pilot light, turn the oven knob to any temperature. The pilot light should get bigger in size of flame. If not, the thermostat that controls the oven must be replaced. If the pilot light does get bigger, but the stove does not ignite, it is the safety valve.
