"replace ic chips pt# stk392-120 or stk392- 150 and there are 12 resistors located near ic clips pt# 6r8 ( color code blue - gray - gold - gold ) board location no#s 3149 thu 3160 if you look close you may find two resistors discolored as i found on my convergence circut board , also use heat sink compound on new ic chips , take your time to mark all wire connectors going to board from tv , also use .022 dia gage rosin -core solder and a 15- 25 watt soldering iron you may have to adjust the red - blue convergence afterwards my tv set is 3 yrs old also ( thanks holbert )"
The above was written by Wuz Up Man and it is the soulution. My tv now works great. Holbert was a true ACE. I did not know a thing and he totally helped my out (Thanks Holbert)! I would email him at [email protected] and ask if he has some time to help.

In some cases you will need the original remote to adjust convergence. Check that first. You can also find more detailed guides on www.TvRepairKits.com - there is a tips page with service mode codes, etc, also.
You will need the original remote to acces the convergence setting adjustments. You can get the original remote for your model from www.tvrepairworld.com
You can access the menu by hitting two buttons on the TV itself at the same time. You then adjust by hitting the up/down buttons.
The double pictures u mention sounds like a convergence problem.
If adjusting the convergence via the menu does not work
you would need to order 2 parts and be able to solder. A rather inexpensive repair if you can do it yourself.
For step by step info on how to repair click below
If you have the original remote you will find underneath the little door at the bottom of the remote a format button. If you do not have the original remote you can go to prefrences in the menu and change the format settings.
Yes its the convergence ICs. You will need ywo STK392-120 ICs and about six of the 6.8 ohm 1watt metal resistors to repair the issue. You can get replacement ICs and resistors at the following link and they will provide free instalation instructions with pictures so you can easially do the repair yourself and save about 400.00. Here is the link. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
You may need to sinlpy adjust the convergence. Check your owners manuel for the proper way to access the convergence screen and follow it step by step. If this doesn't work, you may have a bad convergence chip. Here is my generic post for convergence.
You most likely have a convergence chip bad. In our shop, when we are working on projection TVs, we find that about 80% of the repairs we make are the same problem you are having. You need to replace the convergence chip ( there are 2 of the same chips on the convergence board, and I suggest you replace both ). If you are going to attempt the repair yourself you'll need to remember to use lots of heat sink grease so you don't have the same problem again. Also, try to get original parts, as there are times that the after-market ones don't work well. As a precaution, always remember to unplug the set from the wall before you do any work on the set. Good Luck
