Not the one with the cordless phone.
We have bought two of them, one being used, and the other say's it's new.
1st one, all codes come up and will not allow to erase all messages from previous owner. Will not display caller id info.
2nd one, will turn on with time set at 7am and will not turn off at 11pm when set. Will not display date, or time, no messages will appear, just Olympia Infoglobe.
We have owned two of them in the past and they lasted about 2yrs each.
We have tried to contact Olympia and Sharper Image, and neither one will respond to calls or emails.
My son who is a genious with electronics can't even access the inside of the globe to see what might be wrong. He has removed all screws, but the globe itself will not come off.
Neither one have fallen, at least not by us.
Any suggestions??
It appears that you have already removed the 4 screws. The globe will not just fall off, it has to be pried. Take a small- bladed screwdriver or a small-bladed pocket knife and gently pry from any small opening you see between the globe and its base. Work the blade around the globe and it will come off. I just did it and now I'm trying to figure out how to get inside the "guts" of the globe. Will keep you advised.
OK, I broke the "Japanese Code". Once the globe is taken off, you will see three SMALL Phillips head screws that hold the "spinner" to the inside of the bottom part of the unit. I would strongly suggest that you use a magnetized Phillips screwdriver. If it is not magnetized you run the very real risk of dropping the screw(s) into the inside of the bottom part (you can pick up a magnetizer at any hardware store...they're small and cheap). Once you have done this, pull off the "spinner". On the bottom of the "spinner" are two metal tabs. Gently bend them upwards because they are probably not making contact with the two metal conductors. You can actually bend them up quite a bit. When you have done this, push the "spinner" back down and replace the screws. Voila!
