I recently discovered yet another problem with my LG E500 notebook. Suddenly the smart cam does not snap pictures or record video because of a "Stream read error" or because "Bitmap image is not valid".
I have already had problems with Blue Soleil built-in Bluetooth device, when on it makes an awful noise and it often disconnects my bluetooth mouse. So far my solution to that one was to get a usb wireless mouse.

By apllying the solution consisting of changing the options at the BIOS, it almost magically turned on.
It is this way because one of the reasons I read for the cam not working was that one of the windows vista actualizations overwrote the pre-installed driver, and that's because loading the default setup options solved the problem.

After trying all the solutions in the forums, I found a post in a forum saying that one guy hat the same problem and called LG and they told them to do this:
Shut down your computer Take out the battery Start the computer (with the AC/DC cable plugged in) press F2 fast....and then you enter in the "BIOS" Select "Load default values" in the last menu from the bios Save changes and exit Then let the computer start windows, and after it is started, turn off the computer again. Put the battery inside the computer Start the computer (with the AC/DC cable plugged in) And woooow!!! the webcam works again!!!

Turning the webcam on is by using a program to turn it .. if you have windows live messenger installed, you can check the properties of the camera by going Tools>>Webcam Settings ... and the camera should turn on .. if not then you have problem with the driver .. reinstall the driver to solve it

I have done all the things that might help to fix my lg e300 smartcam but none of them worked i think lg should do something about this...they can;t just let those cams die after several days.....

Try reinstalling your webcam drivers that came with it. If you do not have them, you can try to download them from the LG website or use a driver finder program.
i think your web cam its to low compare to vista bec. vista needs high specs i think you need to change your os and change to windows xp

at this location ya will find the driver for vista and just reinstall the camera ...it has to work ...probably it came with a xp driver and ....
Hi please try to reinstall the software for your webcam.. note...first uninstall the software then reboot system then install the software then reboot again then connect the cam on your laptop... Please rate.. have a nice day...

Today my LG E500's Smart cam also stopped working after my battery was down too much. Didn't know what to do. And I didn't know about this Fn+F10 combination for the webcam.
My webcam works now after activating it by Fn+F10. However, I don't know what made it stop functioning.
