Can't sync selected contact groups from Outlook with iPod Touch

I want to sync only one folder of contacts from Outlook 2007 with my iPod Touch. I have created separate contact groups in Outlook, but iTunes (9) doesn't seem to recognize them when I go to change the settings in iTunes, the "Sync contacts with: Outlook" box is checked and only "All Contacts" is available to choose. The "Selected groups" button is greyed out.

IPad How to transfer or sync content to your computer

iTunes, iBooks, and App Store content

By default, iTunes Store, iBookstore, and App Store content on your device will automatically transfer to your computer. If it doesn't, you can use the Transfer Purchases option in iTunes to ensure that all iTunes Store, iBookstore, and App Store content is transferred to your iTunes library. Learn about transferring purchased content.

Photos

You can import photos or videos into your computer that you have saved on your iPad (for example, in Mail or Safari, or when using the iPad Camera Connection Kit).

Note: You cannot transfer photos that you synced to your device from a computer. You can only transfer photos or videos to your computer that you saved on the iPad itself.

Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks, and Notes

You can sync contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and notes with applications on your computer across multiple computers and devices. You can find the sync settings for these in iTunes on your computer. With your iPad connected to the computer, select your iPad (under Devices). Then click the Info tab.
For more details on syncing content on your iPad with your computer, click the sections below:

  • Microsoft Entourage 2004 or Microsoft Entourage 2008.

  • When syncing contacts, you can choose to sync all of your contacts, or only selected groups.
  • You can select a Default Contacts group into which all new contacts created on your iPad will be added.
  • Additional options for syncing include syncing your contacts with Yahoo or Gmail/Google Mail. You will need to configure it with the user name and password for your Yahoo or Google account.

I cannot get my email to be directed to my iphone

Email account setup with Mail is easy. If you're setting up an email account for the first time on iPhone or iPod touch, simply touch the Mail icon on the Home screen. If you're adding an additional account with software version 2.0 or later, touch the Settings icon on the Home screen, select Mail, Contacts, Calendars and select Add Account.

If you're setting up a Microsoft Exchange, MobileMe, Gmail, Yahoo! or AOL account, touch the icons for those services on the Add Account screen and enter your account information. If you're setting up an email account from another provider, select Other. In software version 2.0 or later, Mail can automatically setup many popular POP and IMAP email accounts using just your email address and password.1 As Mail looks up settings that match your email account you may see a note appear that will describe any limitations you may experience in using your email account. If Mail cannot find the settings needed to setup your email account, refer to the documentation from your email provider on how to manually setup an email account.

Syncing email account settings to iPhone or iPod touch
You use iTunes to sync your email account setttings to iPhone or iPod touch. iTunes supports Mail on a Mac, and Microsoft Outlook (2007 or 2003) and Outlook Express on a PC. See article "Syncing iPhone and iPod touch with your computer" for further details.

Note: Syncing email account settings to iPhone or iPod touch copies the email account setup, not the messages themselves. Whether the messages in your inbox appear on both iPhone or iPod touch and your computer depends on the type of email account you have and how it’s configured. You may need to enter your password on the device after syncing account settings.

How to transfer Contacts in iPhone to Outlook

Once your iPhone is connected to your PC and iTunes is loaded you can right click on your iPhone and select exactly what you want to have sync'd.
1. Under the Info tab you will find Contacts. 2. Tick the "Sync contacts with :" and select Outlook from the list. 3. Click "All contacts"
If you wish to put all of your iPhone created contacts into a different group in Outlook you can select the group there also and tick the relevant box.
iTunes always displays a warning about over writing data but that is not relevant to Contacts. Data is always merged.
I hope this solves your problem.

Can I sync an Ipod touch with my Palm Desktop for windows?

I don't believe that the Palm desktop manager is compatible with Ipod. Unless you have your contacts associated with Microsoft Outlook, that should work.

Sync Outlook Contacts & iPhone

When you create a new Contacts Folder you have to make sure that you create as a subfolder of the main contacts folder (in the create window you are shown the file tree).

I had the folders moved in different groups as well but I am not sure that it made a difference.

Please note that you have to leave outlook and itunes on for a few minutes before they synch and iTunes see the new folders.

How to sync contacts from iphone to outlook 2003?

Hi,

When you connect your iPhone to the PC that you always sync with, Go to Info tab, Check the box Sync Contacts with: and select Outlook. Then make sure that you check the box Put new contacts created on this phone into the group: and select a subfolder in your main contacts folder.

This way, all the contacts from your iPhone will be saved into another folder in your main contacts folder of your Outlook PST.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks
