Our television is less than 2 years old and in the last month it has started to turn itself off. It happens most frequently when the TV is just turned on. There is no pattern to it at all. Sometimes it goes 5 minutes and sometimes it's fine for a couple of hours and then just turns off. It appears to happen the most when it's just been turned on after being off for several hours. Does anyone have a solution for this? We have removed the surge protector, checked all the connections, dusted fastidiously around the rear of the TV.....we're out of solutions here!
Probably a bad Inverter board. I have a Dell 32" LCD TV but it has a Samsung Panel inside, found a burnt transformer on the inverter board, Still trying to find a replacement.
My TV comes on for a second then goes black, power still shows on but no picture. 1.5 years old
If you are not a tech person, take it in for service.

I have exactly the same problem with the same TV samsung HL-R5678W bought also in 2005. Haven't figured it out yet. Have you tried calling Samsung?
I'm having the same problem. I just got a new Tivo HD and hooked it up to my HDMI and the tv turns it self off about every 10-15 mins. It does not seem to do it on another input. HDMI causing the problem?

Mine not only turns itself off, but it also turns itself on in the middle of the night. I have to turn the set completely off with the surge protector.
After being off overnight, it takes 5-25 times turning it on before it stays on. It shuts off after a few seconds to a few minutes. Eventually it will stay on but it's getting to be a real pain.
