Page 10 in this Owners Manual describes setting the clock.

Press menu button. Press up or down repeatedly until 'Clock Adjust' appears. Press 'Enter'. Press up or down to set hour. Press > minutes flash. Press up or down to set minutes. Press 'Enter'.

The "MENU" button is on the REMOTE! That's right, there's no menu button on the unit, so you can't set the clock without the $30 remote (RM-X118A).

You have used the worng remote output, you have used the electric aerial wire (blue) to switch on the amplifier and you should use the remote wire (blue/white).

If you have tried another front & its the same, then its the main unit,...
Are the copper contacts clean? use rubbing alchol.
