Try holding the home and sleep/power buttons if not... hold the home button and plug it into your computer and continue to hold if not... plug in to the computer then wait until you see the apple logo hold both buttons until the screen is blank then release them. hold them both again until the apple logo appears then continue to hold them until it goes away. release the sleep/power button then hold the home button until it appears in itunes next time jailbreak using blackra1n it is a lot easier

My iTouch 4th gen will not turn on anymore. I attempted to jailbreak using greenpois0n and it seems like everything was fine and then when the screen showed the boot logo it just shut off and would not do...

Restore mode is different from DFU mode (CLICK HERE to learn more). You must connect your iPod touch to your PC again and do these steps to put it to DFU mode:
  1. Plug/connect your device to a computer (PC or Mac)
  2. Turn it OFF
  3. Press and hold the POWER and HOME buttons together for EXACTLY 10seconds
  4. Release the POWER button but keep holding the HOME button until the computer beeps indicating that a USB device is recognized.
  5. Re-do the jailbreak.
To make sure that you do things right, I recommend you read my tip: http://www.fixya.com/support/r8764632-jailbreak_ios_4_2_1_all_idevices_iphone

Getting message error -40 cant connect to itunes on my ipod 2g a1288

1. First, Open up iTunes, plug in your iPod Touch/iPhone to the CPU's USB port. Turn on your CPU's speaker and make sure it is loud enough that you can hear it.

2. Hold down the Home button (top left for iPod Touch and top right for the iPhone with the screen facing you) and the Power button (located on the front bottom of your iPod Touch/iPhone) simutaneously, until the screen goes black and the device turns off. (past the red slider/slide to power off screen)

3. Now let go of the Power button, but continue to hold the Home button. Your iPod Touch/iPhone should have turned off and the screen should not be on.

4. After around ~10-20 seconds, you will hear a noise (beep/ding) from your CPU as if it had just recognized a new hardware device, now iTunes should recognize it in DFU mode.

5. After iTunes recognizes the iPod Touch/iPhone, let go of the Home button otherwise it will go into recovery mode and you will have to do the entire DFU process over again.

6. You will know when you have put your iPod Touch/iPhone correctly into DFU mode when the display is blank and that you do not have anything on your device.

7. Restore ipod using itunes

I recently updated the firmware for my ipod touch [2nd gen] and now its stuck on the apple logo and won't do anything else. When i try restarting it, it just goes to the apple logo and then does nothing....

So you've upgraded to the latest 3.1.3 version.
You can still try to put your iPod to DFU mode, that way, iTunes (from your computer) will recognize your device. See link to my instructions below.
But since you have the latest firmware (3.1.3), the only thing you can do, once your device is in DFU mode is to repeat the update. You MUST NOT follow the rest of the rest of the instruction about restoring to 3.1.2, coz that might be fatal. Just REPEAT THE UPDATE. REPEAT THE UPDATE. And wait patiently until your iPod opens normally.
See complete instruction here.

Itouch wont turn on after jailbreak

here is what to do.
you need to put the ipod in dfu mode and restore it to your prior version firmware.
to enter dfu mode plug the ipod onto the cord without pluging the usb into the computer.
Hold the Home button down for 5 second and press the Power button and hold for 10 sec, the apple logo may appear or not.
let go of the power button and keep the home button depressed for 27 second.
plug in the usb end of the cable to your computer and if it mounts restore. when you click the restore button, press shift at the same time on your keyboard, this will allow you to choose a file to restore your ipod to.
once you have you itouch restored, use quickpwn to jailbreak.

Ipod touch v2 stuck at itunes connect

your ipod was jailbroken and now it is not.
no worries, go to quickpwn.com

Download the quickpwn software and jailbreak your ipod.
It's pretty easy,

but first what I would do, is download the itouch firmware version you want to restore to.
the file name will be something like this: iPod1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw

Put your ipod in DFU mode:
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} Plug the usb cable into the Ipod and NOT into the computer.
Hold the Home Button down for 5 second (do not release it)
Then Press and hold the Power Button for approx 10 secs (count them out)
Your iPod will reboot.
Release the power button and continue holding the Home button for an additional 27secs.
You may see the screen go blank or not.
Plug the USB end into the computer with itunes open.
Your ipod will mount in recovery mode.
Restore it by pressing Restore and Shift at the same time. This will allow you to select the ipod firmware you downloaded.
Restore it and then do your jailbreak.
It will ask for the same firmware version you just restored to.
find it on your computer and do the J/B
I have the firmware on my computer, shoot me an email and i will send it,just let me know if you have a 1st Gen or 2nd Gen

I tried jail breaking ipod and it wont turn on

Okay. if your jailbreaking is not working than it is something to do with who or from where you bought your ipod or the jailbreak program. If you are wanting to jailbreak your ipod i reaccoment the program HiJackThis it worked on my old ipod touch. But A word of warning. after i jailbreaked by ipod i dropped it and the screen cracked. they would not fix my iPod for the single reason that by "Jail Breaking" your iPod you break you warrenty and Apple will no longer repair it.
