ERR message Nikon N80, I get an ERR message and lens will not focus. I have a 28-200mmD Sigma lens. The message started in the middle of a roll of film.

Sorry, no. If it fit onto a Pentax camera then the lens has a Pentax mount. The Nikon (I assume you mean the D80 digital camera, or perhaps the N80 film camera) has a Nikon mount. Since the Nikon mount has a deeper flange distance than the Pentax mount, there are no adapters available to allow you to fit a Pentax-mount lens onto a Nikon camera.

Confirm tht DX shows in LCD. If not then press and hold shift button then press ISO so "DX" appears.Open Camera Back. Insert film cartridge, pull film leader out to right and align with red index mark (inside film chamber on right). Make sure there is no slack in leader.Close camera back until lock release snaps closed. Fully depress shutter until film advances to first frame.
Confirm " 1" and film transport show in LCD. If Film is not loaded correctly, "ERR" show on LCD. Open cack and reload film.

Yes and no. The lens will fit on the D5000 without a problem. But the sensor on the D5000 is smaller than a frame of 35mm film so you'll end up using only the center portion of the image. What this amounts to is that the lens will act like a 115-450 zoom would on the N5005. Also, if the lens doesn't have a focus motor built in (Sigma calls it HSM) then it won't autofocus on the D5000. You can still focus manually, though.

Jim, it really sounds like one of threethings. Either will require a repair shop.
1. the film sensor is not recognizing film in the film chamber, or film across the back, therefore not telling the advance motor to advance film...
2. The film advance motor itself needs replaced.
3. The rear door latch switch needs replaced.
Since everything else seems to do OK, I doubt the main computer board is bad.

I will try to help you, but please understand that my experience is with Nikon film cameras. Assuming that the D60 works in a manner similar to a Nikon 35 mm body and that Sigma macro lens work like Nikon macro lens, you should be able to determine the usable subject to lens distance by experimentation. First, make sure the lens is in the macro mode. To do this you must set the auto-focus mode control to the manual focus mode (see your manual). On Nikon lenses, you must first set the focus ring to infinity, then move slider switch, which has two positions marked; "normal" and "macro., to the macro position. You should now be able to rotate the focus ring to the macro range. Use the zoom ring to zoom in and out and focus with the focus ring. The the range over which the lens to subject to lens distance will yield an in focus image will be rather limited and in the range of an inch or so to 6 or 8 inches.

You have to reset the rewind counter by pushing the two buttons simultaneously - one on the side of the lens mount, the other by the release button - red, cassette symbols. This tells the camera there's no film in it.

Is the film loaded correctly? Have you tried reloading it? Also is it flashing DX too? That would mean the film speed is not DX coded so you need to set the film speed manually.

This can happen if you are using a non-G lens, without the lens aperture being set to the minimum aperture and locked.

I had the same problem, what I did was set ISO to manual,and still got the Err,but I took a shot and the film advanced and it seems to be ok now.

You may be able to find a Konica toMinolta or Konica to M42 adaptor. Some adaptors are available...some aren't; it depends upon the film plane dist. and mount diameter. For instance you can get a Nikon to Canon adaptor, you can't get a Canon to Nikon adaptor. Email KonicaMinolta and ask them.
