Ge profile oven/convection oven humming when on convection settin

I have a ge profile oven/convection oven. It is humming when I put it on either convection bake or convection roast. It does not hum if I put it on regular bake or roast. What is wrong with it. It seems to be working so far, just started humming.

It makes loud groaning/grinding noise, then noise will stop and fan will turn off, then start up again, all while still in convection mode. Oven works fine in regular bake mode but I miss my convection!

Ensure that your convection fan is turning
a hum on this model usualy means that the convection motor can seize up a bit

GE Profile Convection Problem

with GE
SHORTED OVEN SENSOR CIRCUIT
if your comfortable taking the range out of the box, it is a pretty easy repair. The oven sensor is a small tube in the range that "sences" temp.
although it could be the erc, its more than likely the sonsor itself.
it is on the back wall and has to be unplugged from the back to be removed
there are two screws that hold it on the back wall
put the new one in and you should be ready to go
goto appliancepartspros.com
type in your modle number and look in the cavity section
your looking for the oven sensor
they usually run around 20-30 dollars

GE Profile convection with light bulb burning out

Multiple possibilities.
  • Being used as a night lite. (continuous use)
  • Not using a light bulb designed for use in a oven.
  • Inexpensive bulb. (very low lamp hour rating).
  • Oven door slamming.
  • Over voltage condition.
  • (My favorite) Light bulb swapping Gnomes.
Please take the time to give this solution a fix ya rating.

Never used Convection JTP 5650DI55

Did you try going to the GE website? If not, try it:

http://www.geappliances.com/

When you pull up the website, you can click on the blue down arrow located in the box at the top of the web page, next to the work SEARCH and click on "USE & CARE MANUALS. Put your model number into the next box to the right and hit GO.

If you are having trouble after entering what you believe is the proper model/serial number, you can look at the FAQ (frequently asked questions) section to determine whether you have actually entered the proper number.
