I have purchased a Blackberry 8800 off of Criags list and have unlocked it but I cannot make or recieve calls. I do have text messaging and can get on line. It was a company phone that had an IT policy...

Step 1 Ensure the Blackberry Desktop Manager is installed using Blackberry Internet Service, and not Blackberry Enterprise Server. If you are unsure, it would probably be a good idea to uninstall the Desktop Manager and start again.

If you don't have the CD that came with your Blackberry, the Software can be downloaded here.

Step 2 Download the file policy.bin and save it in your Blackberry installation directory (C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry).
Step 3 Wipe your Blackberry, creating a backup if necessary. Select Options/Security/Wipe on the Device.

If this option is unavailable, you may have to install the latest software on your Blackberry. You need to Download and install the latest Desktop Manger Software, then the latest Handheld Software. Connect your device, open the Desktop Manager, select Application Loader, and follow the prompts.

Step 4 Close the Desktop Manager if it is open.
Step 5 From the Windows Start Menu select Run..., and at the prompt type regedit. In the tree on the left hand side, navigate to:

HKEY_Current_Users\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\PolicyManager

Right-Click the Policy Manager Folder and select New/String Value. Name the value Path. Now, Double-Click the Path Subkey and set Value Data to:

C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\policy.bin
Step 6 Open the Desktop Manager.
Step 7 Connect the Device.

Verification
Once complete, the Options/Security screen on your Blackberry should not contain references to an IT Policy, you should now be able to change all settings (including password prompts), and install Third Party Applications.

New Blackberry came without the application such as Help, Blackbe

Once you get a blackberry email account set up through your phone you'll have to turn your phone off then on and then your phone will automatically download and update itself, and you'll have your applications :)

I need to reload the browser app on my BB 8800, i got into applications and browser is there but will not appear on my desktop. im not retarted, i checked to see if it was a hidden icon, not there either....

Browser disappeared after your first syncing with the Desktop Manager
1. Run Desktop Manager, make a backup of your phone.
2. Go to the Phone and Device Support site, find the Blackberry Software Downloads link.
3.Download the new 8800 OS to your PC Desktop.
3. Run the install file from your desktop, follow the prompts.
4. Connect your 8800 to the PC, run Desktop Manager. You will be prompted to upgrade, click Yes.
5. Allow the phone to upgrade. This will take a long time 15-20 minutes is not unusual.
6 If it is working properly. You will get a white screen with spinning hourglass while this is going on.
6.Allow the phone to finish updating, it will reboot itself at the end of the process.
7. Hope this helps and welcome your Browsers back.

Note :: This is tested for perl but perl and 8800 has same features so lets hope for the best . And please let me know .

I don't know how to synchronize the data

As jamers2004's question. You need to install the DTM software that came with the device or it can be downloaded from the BlackBerry web site.

Plug in the USB lead, find your device and choose the sync option.
