Camera says "change batteries" even with new batteries

Same problem as many others. screen says "change batteries" and shuts off. Even with new bateries the Camera won't take pictures or videos, still flashes as low battery and shuts off. I tried reformatting and reseting the camera. nothing helps. please let me know what the solution to this problem is.

Are you or have you tried using "alkaline batteries" Some cameras require a "better than average" battery.

Even New Batteries Wont Work. Camera Shuts Down Immediately

Clean front and back + - terminals in camera careful with fine emery paper. Also, MAKE sure batteries are not loose if they are they will not make the connection. Fine jeweler screwdriver will pick them out enough.VERY CAREFUL.I truly think this is it.regards Billy

Problems with my PDC 5055

You will have to navigate your Tools screens to set a longer auto off period as the auto off isn't working for you. Otherwise, I've seen this when the recharable battery no longer retains a suffcient charge to satisfy the camera even though it is still usable. If the camera thinks there is only 10% of battery charge left in the capacity of the battery it will default to shut off, not sleep, anyway no matter what you do.

You may need to try another or newer/new battery if all else above failes.

Camera will not stay on.....

the 3 beeping sound means that the camera has low battery capacity. the lens is stuck out because there is incorrect battery connection. there is an option on the camera setting for the battery type. try this one:
-turn the camera on
-click on Menu button
-select options using left/right, up/down button
-select Set up 2
-Select Battery type
-Select Alkaline for non-rechargable
or Ni-MH for rechargable
-click OK button

this setting should be done when using camera for the first time and whenever you are switching battery types, from rechargable to non-rechargable and vice versa.

Shuts right off - now lens won't go in

I was having the same problem and tried several set of new batteries. Finally I purchased a set of high performance lithium batteries and the camera works on them. Before trying to get repairs or buying a new camera try spending $15 on the best batteries you can find.

No Battery Life

On mine, the battery terminal on the inside of the battery case is broken, by opening and shutting the cover a few times until it contacts properly it is normally OK. Anyone know where I can buy a new contact plate in theUK?

High battery consume

Short in the camera so you do not get proper switch off even when you switch the camera off ( so it stays on all the time ). Or your charger is not fully charging your batteries which then go into your camera say half charged and dont last very long.

Battery display low indication and switch off even new batteries placed

Dear Camera User, I am by no means a professional when it comes to these matters. However, I do have the same camera as you, and currently have the same problem. Other users with the same camera have also apparently had the same problem as us. I have not gotten a chance to try this yet, but I read that if you keep the camera on the video feature for a while, and maybe even try recording some video, the camera will finally power up properly and not have to shut down all the time. According to the user who suggested this, his camera worked ever since that incident. So it is very possible that this may be the solution, or at least, one of them. Good luck to you...and to me (I have yet to try it).
