My Koala espresso machine pours slowly then sprays
My Koala espresso machine pours slowly then starts spraying. There is no crema. I am thinking that the crema disk should have a visible hole. Am I right?

First think to check is the spray head which pours the water onto the powder. remove the spray head, clean it and soak it in descaler. reassemble and do a brew. When finished check the surface of the coffee has 6 dimples where the water has poured onto it and that the coffee is uniformly wet. If no dimples or dry spots, get replacement spray heads.
The pulse program does not result in lower volume. The control board adds time to account for the pulses. If you are encountering less water than before clean your spray head and spray head fitting. 75% of low volume service calls are from calcified spray heads.
I have the same problem. Machine is brand new, and no faulty or cracked parts. Seems it is a pressure issue, but I don't see a way to reduce the pump power in the manual. Please let me know if this was ever solved.
Check the filter basket, if it only has one small hole, it's a pressurised filter and needs the small black Crema Enhancer fitted into the portafilter before fitting the filter basket.
Or buy a spare double filter basket which has lots of holes and does not need the Crema doo-da
I have the same machine with excellent crema. You need to be sure you are using a high quality burr grinder on the fine setting. Also be sure to tamp using a tamper for even compression. The espresso should come out SLOWLY and smoothly... it will end with a great crema.
Hello. Take the funnel out, under it is the spray head, remove it, unplug the unit, take it over to a sink and tilt the end that the spray head was on into the sink slowly, the water in the tank will drain out through the spray head pipe until mostly empty. You also could take the top off, take the tank lid off, and use a shop vac to vacuum all the water off, or just pour it out, probably faster, but messier :) If you need information on you unit, go to www.bunnomatic.com , chose commercial, and then on the left, choose coffee, and pour overs.
clean your spray head by removing it and at the same time run the cleaning spring up through where the spray head screws to. before replacing spray head place your pot under and pour a pot of water through,to rinse.when done replace spray head .wait for it to heat up and your set to brew again...
