Lens error, restart camera

When I turn the camera on, I get "lens error, restart camera" and the lens won't come out.

We talked to a repair shop, and they just send it back to the manufacturer. I like this camera, but the repair shop might cost almost as much as a new one, and they don't even guarantee fixing it.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here are some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

There is caution that lens error.will shut down automatically, restart camera

hi if your lens looks bad like crooked, then you have to send to canon. They don't sell lens unit to local repair shop. but not serious problem (lens repairable) then bring to local repair shop. canon will charge you about $135, local repair shop would charge you $65 Thanks and good luck with you!
