There are such adapters. I just found one here but take into account that they consume some additional energy and it might be very hard to fit them into the laptop's drive bay. I've never used this kind solution but I think that you could run into some compatibility issues with certain drives or laptops. "Downgrading" technology this way is never flawless.

Basically not internally. About the only way to do this would be if the hard drive was an external hdd. Hope this helps.

I want to download all info from my desktop and motherboard into mylaptop

Hi Eva!

If your desktop is crashed, then you will need to verify if its internal hard drive is still working, and then conect it using an USB/SATA/IDE adapter to your Laptop. This is one: http://www.sataadapter.com/SATA-IDE-ATA-66-ATA-100-ATA-133-COMBO-ADAPTER/sata-ide-adapter-usb-hard-drive-sata-drive.html

If the problem with your desktop is with its hard drive, then... you need to take your computer to its manufacturer technnical service center.

Changing hard drive on D600 pin configuration is different. It's supposed to be compatible, but it doesn't work

The D600 has a IDE hard drive that has two rows of pins. The only other drive for a laptop is a SATA which does not have any pins sticking out but has 2 sockets. The D600 has an adapter that goes over the pins before you install in the caddy. I do not know what you are looking at so please give me the model numbers of the two drives and I will solve the issue for you. [email protected]

D600 looks like this:http://www.prudentandpractical.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/nbhd-ide-connector.jpg

Adapter looks like this:http://cgi.ebay.com/Dell-Laptop-Harddrive-Adapter-x-10-pcs-New-Orginal_W0QQitemZ350360450378QQcategoryZ74949QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7673905898357184421

Here are the 2 types:http://jekkilekki.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/sata-ide-laptop-hard-drive.jpg

Install IDE devices (drives / DVD / CDROM) sata

IDE devices have different "data" and "power" connectors than SATA drives.

So, you need a motherboard with IDE connectors, if you wish to connect an IDE disk-drive (or CD/DVD), and you need a motherboard with SATA connectors, if you wish to connect a SATA device.

Similarly, the connectors on the power-supply must be compatible with the sockets on the disk-drive (or CD/DVD) drives, so that the devices can get power.

You could possibly purchase a short IDE-to-SATA power-adapter, if you have a SATA device, but there are no SATA power-connectors on your power-supply.

Is a MAXTOR N256 20 GB HARD DRIVE HD model #92048D8 compatible with laptops? It's an IDE

I would say yes. Most IDE hard drives are compatible, all that's needed is the laptop to hard drive adapter. They come in various flavors.... ide to sata (with power converter), ide to usb, ide to ide (44 pin female to 40 pin male), take your pick. :)

Switching out a hard drive for a Gateway M675

What you're looking for is an IDE PATA (UDMA/100) drive, you can however use a SATA to IDE adapter if you want to use the SATA drive. Most likely you'll have to get a power adapter cord for the SATA drive also as your machine's power supply probably doesn't have one. You're going to be better off just using an IDE drive.

Here's a link to ebay auctions for these types of hard drives
.
