Got a, 13yr old, Kenmore 15, upright from my mother-in-law.
Plugged it into the GFCI in my garage, and next morning it was not running. Sure enough, it tripped the GFI.
I reset it and plugged it back in. Now the compressor is not comming on. Only the alarm on the door is blinking. . .
Is there a reset buttom somewhere on the Freezer?
If the unit was laid down during transit, you may have caused damage to the inner works of the sealed system. Usually not worth it to repair it, sorry.

you have a refrigeration issue partner let her go 16 yrs. is good service you can replace it for 3 to 5 hundred the repair will be that IF you can find someone with the r-12. don't go for a top it off and go deal the food you lose is to expensive for that to be economical.

Your compressor start relay contacts may be getting loose or worn, resulting in a delayed start on the compressor.
If the start device includes a capacitor, it could be getting weak.
GFCI are not good receptacles for devices with high starting torque.

Try it in a normal plug. Freezers and refridgerators just pull too much to be used on a GFCI. The more a GFCI is used the eaiser it trips.
SOURCE: Hi There,
Refrigerators and freezers should not be run on a GFI outlet the it will weaken and start tripping. Most manufacturers now print this in the owners manual.
